My AD said this, My AD said that!

Come on guys, most of the AD's I've spoken to all over the world all come out with differing non-sense depending on what day of the week it is.

Yes, there will be waiting lists for these watches, like there are for everything in life that is a little exclusive, yet I imagine a lot of these new Daytona purchases will actually come from right place, right time scenario's when potential buyers see them in the shop window and pull the trigger there and then. An impulse buy, so to speak.

I'd hazard a guess, I could pick one up quicker without the need for going on anyone's waiting list just by being patient and visiting every AD I pass in the next six to twelve months.

Highly doubt that.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is a demonstration / show watch as opposed to being an actual working watch.

You're naive if you think any will be in display cases in the next 5 years. Not happening.

Yep!

Same as the two posted in another thread from Paris!

So it's a demonstration watch as opposed to a 'real' one.

I was at an AD yesterday here in Geneva. They've said the watch should go on sale around June. But they will prioritize existing customers. Others will not get any before next year.

That said, if I had to wait 5 years, then in that time I might as well save up for the Platona...

Weird since the 4130 has been around for 15 years +... they could have just popped one in!

Regarding these "wait lists" I am not even bothering. My AD did put my name down, but if I will see pigs fly before I get that call from them.

I will just wait it out and find one at retail price at least form our trusted dealers. No way I am paying a $1 over MSRP for one, it can definitely wait.

wait.

I'm just shooting in the dark here but maybe the point is to keep the watch permanently in the position Rolex wishes it to be photographed for media (10:10).

Otherwise press would play with it and present images to the masses that are not befitting of Rolex OCD?

I know right..... I also think its comical that everyone including my self thinks "their" AD is in the know. In my opinion, no AD has a clue when the watch will be available. My AD (personal friend, and owner of the store) told me, his Rolex rep wouldn't commit to saying anything about arrival, other then should have 1 black 1 white by Christmas.... So who really knows

I'm in the same boat. I emailed my AD and her manager at 7:30am when the Hdinkee post went up. I'm promised to be first with the white dial Daytona C

I will say, they did get me the first SD4K in July 2014 when I had requested it during Basel March 2014.

It should be noted that the first "like new in box" Daytona C is likely to be offered by its original owner within 6 months of getting it - oh ye disheartened have hope!

That's funny. But even funnier would be if it happened. The uproar and outrage on the forum would last for years

The published wait time seems excessive.

I take with grain of salt but you would need to step in or do something if you want to get the Watch sooner

Well, since they have already made an appearance at authorized dealers it's a fair assumption at this point the wait won't be two years. May be awhile before one gets any time under the light in the display cases for average Joe to purchase while the work their way through the wait lists, but so far there are good signs on potential availability.

This whole "King Tut/Look, Don't touch" tour they're doing is a turn off.

This Daytona is what I have been waiting for a long time. I don't think I am able to reject the offer if my AD calls me up and offers one with premium over MSRP. It is just so beautiful.

5 Years?!? I'm guessing by that time no issues on availability. I'll keep my eyes open...

I agree with you. In 5 years they will make another new Daytona 100,000 piece production run. Not sure why so many people think this OPP Daytona will be SO limited in production. They are looking to SELL as many as they can make! This is ROLEX, not Patek/AP/RM/Lange...

Oh boy...more forced engraving on a watch? That's BS. Whose watch is it anyway?

I know all this free PR is or cuddly what Rolex wants, but I'll resist.

I like the watch OK...but TBH, it looks a bit plasticky in all the pics I've seen. It leaves me a bit cold.

I agree no issues on availability but that isn't what we were talking about. I said they won't be in the display cases. Seems to be a Rolex or AD thing to keep SS daytonas out of display cases.

You think they will redesign the Daytona SS in 5 years? That would certainly be a change from Rolex operating procedure but one I would welcome.

2-5 year wait on ceramic Daytona?

If you're lucky - yes. Otherwise it may take longer
