This says so much about the 312. Comparing this piece to Panerai's big daddy, the 233, makes it an excellent purchase!!!

I'm happy to see this thread because I had my heart set on a 233 but when I saw the 312, I'm not so sure anymore.

Tres Un Dois... I think that's how you say it.
Though I would not mind the 233....

312 for me
Lovely as the 233 is, I don't like the linear power reserve meter. A circular dial would be much nicer imho... Tommysol - add a poll to this thread, so it will be easy to see the outcome. Cheers

I'm not keen on the power meter and the 233 movement issues immediately rule it out. If you're paying that sort of cash then I'd expect a bulletproof movement.
The 312 has a much cleaner dial in my opinion. Now if they had a regular production, manual wind 50's case with all the numbers plus a discrete date function I'd be all over it.

312! because I just got one on the weekend haha so I am biased
I think it would have been ideal if the 312 had domed crystal. |

Another vote for the 233!
The 233 movement issues were very early days apparently, and have since been thoroughly put right. You get a 2 year guarantee anyway. They are both very nice pieces. How about a few more pics Tommysol, maybe with the 233 on an OEM calf strap? |

Well, I chose a 312. Actually, I just got home from picking up a 328L. Very low number L00XX/2000.
I already put my alligator strap from ABP and keeping the bracelet is in the box |

I voted with my $$$$ for the 312 and I love it.
If $$$$$ was not an issue, I would buy the 270. Forget about the 233...a 10K manual wind watch??? |

In the end, I wanted the option of having a bracelet. It would cost me more if I wanted to add one later. Besides, I already had a few straps

The 312 has the edge for me personally. I tried both on recently and as a first PAM the 312 has a slight edge (simplicity of dial). Now if I was looking for a GMT then the 233 probably has the edge over the 320 & 321 assuming you have the extra $$!

233 without doubt, that dome crystal is a work of art and it bounces light and distorts the numbers in such an enigmatic way.
And winding it slowly every sunday over breakfast is total therapy, charging it with a weeks worth of power like you charge your self up...love it 312 still lovely but not in the same league |

I much prefer the 312, i'm not a fan of the power reserve indicator on the 233.
