I saw the advert on ebay, the advert included a phone number. I visited relatives over xmas and after ringing the seller arranged to go and have a look at the watch. We negotiated a price Ģ3900 and we did the deal. I also put a best offer in on another watch(a datejust which was counter offered by which time i was on my way to look at this watch.
To be honest it feels a bit like a whitch hunt and i am confused as to why. I dont mean to be evasive at all, i posted a picture this morning and 2 people questioned if the watch looked right so I asked for peoples advise. Thats it really. If i have bought a bad watch then i may be able to get my money back, if the watch is good I will be delighted not to have lost my money. I appreciate that i am new on here and if my only crime is to have bought foolishly then its me that is going to lose out.Read my post this morning and you will see i was over the moon with the watch. regards Fagin |

One can normally see all types of completed listing, won or not. Yours must have been pulled by Ebay for some reason.
The warranty card looks exactly as my lot. The watch itself also looks fine but this model seems to be the one the fakers really want to crack. I notice two styles of 116710 dials, yours has the wider spacing between superlative+chronometer, officially +certified. The 24 hand also reaches deep into the minute markers. I have seen another type of dial with lesser spacing and also 24 hour hand which barely reaches the minute markers. The supplying dealer info will be on the other side of the warranty card. Perhaps you should take it to them and check their records. |

The only thing left for you to do now is to take it to a Rolex AD or a competent watchmaker to pop the caseback and verify the movement. |

Do you remember his Ebay ID? If not, you could call the guy from whom you purchased the watch, ask for it, then we could all search completed auctions using that ID and find the auction. Tell him you want to save him as a "Favorite Seller" in case he offers anything else you might be interested in buying.

Your GMT hand is in the wrong position compared to all I've looked at. //// edit. It seems the same stack as mine, bought new from AD by me. The dial is different though. Check spaces/GMT hand length to minute marker. Mine (Z serial 2007) Capture.JPG |

Boa, i am prety sure i printed the advert off but if i then realise i havent you lot will string me up !!! and im not at home to check. i have a till receipt from the original purchase. there was also a guarantee certificate but it had personal details on and he wouldnt let me have it. The g/tee cost nearly Ģ700 for 5 years accidental damage etc and i have asked him to see if it can be transferred to me
I have his personal address and his mobile number and a hand written receipt with the s/n on. I know that all that means nothing when someone else has your money but thats all ive got |

If you are worried about an AD pinching it as fake, then use a nearby certified watchmaker instead. He/she will be able to open it and verify movement, etc. We are getting nowhere - the warranty card looks sketchy but we're not trying to verify plastic.

I'm with you, don't see the LEC in any of the pics either...
I'm still a little skeptical on the rehaut engraving, engraving on clasp and warranty card, other than that, itt looks good! |

Maybe this 4x enlargement of this head-on shot will help. I circled where you will see a coronet in the crystal. It has continuous lines and IMHO is etched on the backside of the crystal. That's why I recommend an indie watchmaker to verify it.

The bad news is that I see now the LEC in 77T pic (THANKS) but the question remains: at that level of magnification, wouldnīt we see it in a legit watch? I can see it in mine. |

Hope all works out ok Fagin...
Everyone else, give the guy a break! You have been very helpful with 90% of the comments (as always) and he appears to have welcomed every comment. If he has bought a good watch, then that's great, but surely you can understand his concern having shelled out a huge sum of money in good faith, proudly posted on this forum, and then told by someone that it might be fake! Perhaps as its Christmas, he should be taken at face value and not given a hard time; sometimes its worth putting yourself in someone elses shoes, and not sure any of us wpuld want to be feeling how Fagin is feeling right now. Just my view guys. It's taken 363 days, but that's my good deed done for the year!! |
