When I did something similar to my DSSD a while back the NY RSC wouldn't replace just the SS bezel. They would only replace the bezel and insert together ... in addition to a full service I think.

Give it a couple of weeks to see if function is affected by the drop. If it's just cosmetic, then you have to decide if it bothers you $1800 worth.

For me that would be to hard to ignore and would bother the heck out of me, so I would fix it.

Not the first story I've heard of a Rolex's tussle with tile. Tile is like kryptonite for a watch. Note to self: never even consider taking your watch off above tile.

The bezel should be around $300. The ceramic insert I have no clue.

Really?

That's going to have left a really rough finish. He should get it changed.

New bezel and insert.

I would get it fixed immediately. Call the RSC in Texas, home state for you and get the process moving. Leave the AD out as it adds a middleman for information and time. If close enough, drop it off. Pay, wait and get your watch back. Things happen.

I sent my nephew’s GMT into RSC NYC for replacement when he “lost” the bezel and insert. This was about 6 years ago and, as best I can recall, it cost him $600 for both.

Off to RSC for this - I personally wouldn't be able to wait until service is required to get it fixed. Do you have insurance? In most cases it covers damage.

There is a good chance the bezel insert will break when it is being removed from the bezel. The bezel insert costs 500CHF, and the bezel 108CHF, then the work will cost something There is a chance the watch will have a larger beat error after a fall like that and might need a full service. Be mentally prepared for it.

Get it fixed is my opinion, no matter the cost. On the bright side, the cost of repair percentage of watch retail value, is much less compared to market value.

I'm sure the rough edges could be taken off and smartened up by someone other than Rolex (quickly and cheaply too). The bezel ring has taken a slight boo boo. Big deal. It's supposed to be a tool watch. A five digit wouldn't need to be rushed into surgery for an immediate organ transplant for fear the rest of the bezel could spontaneously combust at any moment.

Replacing the entire fluted WG bezel on my SkyD cost $2,200 so I think all in you will be close to $1k

Do you thing the ad can replace the ring? Or will i have to send off to rsc? For now i’ll just wear it and not worry too much.

ouch? What happened to the bezel?
At that price surely that included you to keep the old one?
if not, 2200$ for a little bit of gold that they end up keeping, melting, and reusing? They could surely do better customer service in the replacement area...
Starting to think PM on rolex with their strict policies is not a great idea...
Best ideal also would be not to damage it :D

I hit it on a door knob within one week of owning it, smashed it. Luckily I purchased it with my Amex who covered the entire cost of repair under their purchase protection benefit.
I did not get to keep the old one sadly.

2 years back someone hit my brand new 7 series from the back. Police came and the guy said he didn't hit. Cop had no proof that he hit it. He didn't give him a ticket. It was a small scratch, however I got it fixed under my insurance. Moral of the story is, we buy these things to make us happy. I would not be happy with that scratch on the bumper. Paid for it and couldn't be happier. You certainly can afford it. Pay $1000 to RSC and be happy.

Spoke to my AD today. She said since it’s a fairly new watch Rolex would give me a discount. Total in damage about $600. Only thing is I’d be out of a watch for about 10 weeks. I think I might just do it. I’m getting -6 sec a day. Not sure if it is damaged or if it’s just the break in period. I’ve only had it 3 weeks.

-6 sec/day is a lot for a new Batgirl.

The newest watches are supposed to be +2/-2 sec/day.

Does that $600 cover a movement overhaul and a new bezel/insert? If so, that's an awesome deal!

Yes it does, she said when you send it to Rolex, they service everything. Movement, case, and replace damaged parts

My 2 month old sub is running -2.5 sec per week. The GMT is way out of spec.

I feel your pain I put a good gash in one of the links right below the bezel on the sub oyster bracelet. It bothered me bc it was distracting (on a 5 week old watch). Anyway I took it to my AD and they polished the entire bracket and it’s cleaned up.

The only annoying thing is it is slightly more shiney (the bracelet) than it was prior to the polish job.

$1,250 estimate? Not great. Not terrible. Rolex repairs are never cheap. I'd get it serviced.
