The Day-Date can certainly be sporty if you opt for the oyster bracelet and domed bezel. Let's not forget we're talking about a watch rated to 100m depth. When I wear mine it unequivocally feels casual and sporty:

And while it’s a Daytona, this one would solve your concern about the smaller 116500 because the 116506 is (and wears) bigger. It fills the wrist perfectly. My wrist is 7 1/4 - 3/8” for reference.
Love this my all time favourite

You want to exclude the PM Daytonas which is a pity as the PM Oysterflex Daytona's are stunning, the WG model in particular.
If Daytonas are out and money no object I would go for a Meteorite dial PM GMT Master.

I would say from a financial standpoint the Platinum Daytona. But in my opinion the dat date 40 crushes the gold Daytona and the sub.

It’s the Edge 1000. It was the best out there when I got it, but time for a change, something a bit smaller for sure so that it can sit below the stem and not up high.

I’m so over Garmin though. It does the job but the software is very glitchy. The amount of times I have to uninstall and reinstall the whole thing is way too many to be happy with.
Yeah the BMC is very nice. Are you a “roadie” as well? What do you ride?
