It is correct - the earlier ones came with the spring bar NATO - there is even a place for it in the watch box - later ones to save money were without this.

Pretty sure it is limited in production as Tudor can't get the ETA movements anymore as this one is piggybacked with the Dubois Dépraz chronograph module

Moved mine on - but still think the blue one looks fantastic!

Hope you are enjoying yours

First Tudor - Heritage Chrono

I owned this watch for 3 years. Great model. Was just a tad too big on me. Just wish it was a 40mm as that size wears better on me.

The dial is beautiful and the rich royal blue color the bezel is due to Tudor using aluminum instead of ceramic.

I did a bit of research on this piece before buying it. Users are correct about the ETA movement and with the attachment DD Chrono module.

Everyone I spoke with said the watch was retired.

There were 2 main versions. 1) I know the one like mine that came with both the SS bracelet & NATO straps stopped showing up in ADs years ago. After that, Tudor started selling the watch with either 2a) SS or 2b) NATO straps. The web site was changed years ago to reflect version 2.

Here’s a couple links I saved for your enjoyment.

I'll also attached a good pic of my old watch taken just after buying it pre- owned. This pic really depicts the beautiful dial.

I wondered why there were rumours it was being discontinued when it was still showing on their website.

However, if they are struggling to source the ETA movements then that would make sense & backs up what a couple of AD”s told me that they’d not had any come through for ages.

Maybe production has already stopped due to the movement issue & the AD network are just trying to move old stock by offering massive discounts in preparation for a new reference with their own in-house movement to be released at Basel 2020?? Who knows ?

One thing though, I wonder how all this will affect future servicing of this reference if Tudor/Rolex struggle to source the ETA spare parts?

Cheers

I love this watch. I had the grey dial but the size just didn't get along with my wrist, unfortunately. Would love to see an update to these designs.

Congrats OP, the blue looks amazing!

Love the blue and would prefer it except for the lack of beveled sub dials found on the grey & black dials. Not sure why Tudor didn't include this detail on the blue. Still a stunning watch but the extra detail really adds to the overall beauty.

Nice Heritage Dan. I recall seeing you added a cyclops to yours as well. Really finishes the piece I think and pages homage to the original.

Thanks, David! You as well.

Yep, added it long ago, after seeing yours, IIRC, and the addition of the cyclops also helps these 60 yo eyes.

Can you just clarify what you mean by bevelled sub dial?

Do you mean the part of the grey main dial that’s cut away to expose the black underneath or are you referring to the actual sub dial themselves?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for this post! Immediately went to the bank and pulled my Heritage Chrono (also blue btw) out of the safety deposit box. Looking forward to strapping it back on tomorrow.

The sub dials on the grey & black dial versions have beveled surrounds with sunken centers where the hands rotate, while the sub dials on the blue dial are flat. Small detail but wonder why it wasn't included on the blue dial

Hi Dan

Thanks for the info.

I hadn’t noticed that on any of the photos I’ve seen of the black/grey dials but then again, I wasn’t particularly looking ‘cos I didn’t know they were different.

Interesting like you say why that detail wasn’t repeated on the blue dials.

Maybe that’s how they were back in the day when the original Monte Carlo versions were produced & Tudor just wanted to keep the new version as true to the originals as possible???

Would be good if anyone out there has an original example from the early 1970’s and could post some close ups of the sub dials for comparison.

Cheers

Here's a better [borrowed] pic when the THC was released. These beveled subs are present on Daytonas, the Big Block & Prince chronographs, and the Monte Carlos [see second pic]. In fact, the THC blue might be the only Rolex/ Tudor chronographs without this detail.

I can see that now, similar to an Omega Speedmaster sub dials

All of this Tudor Heritage love had me throw mine on a leather bund and is getting some wrist time today!

The THC was my first Tudor (five years ago). It's a great watch as part of a collection, although I wouldn't own one as an only watch.

I added the ugly sibbling to the camp last November

The Dad watches over them.

Nice. Do you have any wrist shots of the P01 and what size are your wrists? How do you think it wears?
