At least the Titanium 5711 will not rust, massive improvement IMO.

The weight is another consideration but not a deal breaker. The increased size is a challenge for me as I thought the previous had it correct. ![]() ![]()

Genius move. Two new metals = new pricing (excuse to get out of the ~$28K range for a watch that is selling for $80K). Clean dials for a time when the date function is quite useless.

it works on a tool watch like the pelagos or even a sea dweller. but i dont think it works on a non-diver sport watch. just my 2 cents.

The titanium Octo has a great feel to it but for everyday wear I’m not too sure, I have the Pelagos and pretty much destroyed it in two years, every part is marked and dented, as a dress watch it only takes one hard dent and you would be devastated, I hope it’s steel.

As far as the logic behind the whole switch, I do have one guess: power reserve. The 324 lists minimum of 45 hours, the 330 only 35. As PR grow across the board (I think Rolex is now up to 70!!) there's a need to compete there, too. So, when all was said and done, the 324 w/o date makes sense, I think. |

Now, I still maintain that if there is to be a new Nautilus and no new movement, the 324/no-date combo makes some sense, for the reasons articulated above. However, I'm less convinced that this rumor is grounded in reality. |

I'd be very interested in a platinum cased nautilus. We will see what happens.

Yawn.
(PS. Watches made of titanium have a total absence of tactility. I hate them. No heft too. They feel cheap. Awful). |

Patek needs to get with the times, and have a regular production Platinum piece in their Naut collection. (That said, so does AP.)
Rolex does, across more than one line (not just the Platona). And it's absolutely fabulous. |

i guess we all just have to wait and see and perhaps the newer version should have a major improvement for sure.

I'm not a fan. Don't like the size increase and feel this watch is best served with a date function.

Seriously, a 1mm size increase and all of sudden it's too big? 1mm? Titanium for this watch makes no sense.... getting rid of the date to make it less complicated and for more money is not a win...

Please be patient, as Patek has been busy with their brilliant new concept of crafting new date windows wheels. Soon PP will match all date background wheels to the main dial like many other manufacturers have offered for many decades. Patek simply has not fully tooled up their new equipment yet to make this a reality. Seiko, Paneri, and others have decades of experience here, so be kind as this matching of date wheel to the main dial, even on entry-level pieces, is something very new and innovative for PP (on their entry-level pieces). It'll happen, just please be patient as the wait will be worth it.

Of course, and let's be fair here, PP makes sub-dials with black background so they do offer it on a few products they sell.

I agree. The 5711 and 5712 are already very light for bracelet watches (even more so for sports watches). Making an even lighter 6711 in titanium would make the watch feel "cheap" and "flimsy". I don't buy it, I think this rumour is "fake news".

Thinking about titanium the 15202IP comes to mind. In my eyes the mostly brushed titanium works well on the Royal Oak. I'd still be surprised if Patek launched a regular production 5711/1T or similar but hey, why not. I might be interested if it had a black rather than blue dial, 40mm size, and a date.

Glad to hear I am not the only one! Subtona, you are spot on there actually! I have seen a Grand Seiko finishing in person and although the weight was not to my liking the detail in the finishing was *chefs kiss* The size increase is also unnecessary. Even the 5168 increase is a slight annoyance. Agreed MCMartiny, the old/current were not hefty pieces to begin with. Shedding further weight adds to the “cheap” feel of it.
