If you like to wear a bracelet loose and have the watch hang down towards your hand, PM vs SS weight is a non issue.
Maybe it's just my particular anatomy...but I wear my watch exactly as you describe. My watch does not fall below my wrist bone with my arm down and I do not have marks on my wrist when I remove my watch. It isn't that tight. Maybe I'm just blessed with the perfect Submariner wearing wrist?? haha

Either way, I'd probably agree with you if my wrist weren't so damn perfect!

If I was only going to wear one watch most of the time I would def go PM if funds allowed. There is something so gratifying about the weight, and the heft of wearing it, and it just adds another dimension of enjoyment knowing it is on the wrist. I enjoy wearing my PM pieces just a bit more than my SS even in WG, as its for me to enjoy, I don’t really care what others think.

Wear mine daily and love it. The “weight” doesnt bother me but its not on a full bracelet. It can be dressed up or down. But what I love most is that it’s so under the radar in WG that not many people notice it.
Yes, you will have lots of hairlines scratches but you would have the same with a SS

I have a 116509 and I love it when I wear it. It feels great on my wrist and the weight isn't an issue in the slightest. The problems are the following:

1. It's not that easy to tell the time on a Daytona at a glance. If you want a more practical time machine there are better choices. The Daytona is gorgeous but not that practical.

2. White gold scratches very easily and then it's frustrating to look at those dings and "Dangs!". If you wear a piece that's not that practical because it's gorgeous you want to keep it that way!

If you don't mind those issues ....sure....wear it every day and beat it up and then after 5 or 10 years polish it up so it looks like new. No problem.

FWIW, I rotate my watches, however all 3 of my Rolex watches are PM. Oysterflex Rose Gold Yachtmaster, Gold Sub and WG Daytona. Just got the Daytona and can’t take it off. WG definitely can be used as a daily. I am a bit concerned about wearing my YG Sub to work as people definitely notice it much more and almost everyone knows what a Sub is. To me the weight feels good after a day. I am more concerned about scratching my Royal Oak Offshore AP than my Daytona but I still wear it and am extremely careful on the AP days. Go for it!

I rotate through WG GMT meteorite, Daytona meteorite OF, Platona and several PM Pateks. The heft of PM becomes addictive. It just feels substantial. I find I don’t wear SS very often. I try to be careful but stuff happens. The joy I get seeing those dials glisten on my wrist outweighs the fact they will get scratched etc. if it really bothers you bands can be polished or replaced. I am a perfectionist with cars etc but with watches I realize enjoying them and keeping them pristine are mutually exclusive.

The fact you are on this forum shows you enjoy watches. Pick the watch the resonates with you and wear it often and proudly.

I am not sure just how robust a PM Daytona is. There have been a few threads here about the pusher assemblies just falling off.

I’ve owned two of them for over 10 years never had a single issue. Never heard of this with any Rolex.

Gold and Platinum undoubtedly offers a pleasant tactile experience. While labeling comments about stainless steel as "flimsy" may be a bit harsh, let's refrain from sounding arrogant or condescending. I would hate to think about you would say about titanium.

I use my oysterflex daytona as daily, it’s super comfortable.

Ceramic bezel and oysterflex bracelet make it an amazing daily beater

I have the exact reference WG Daytona, I get used to the heft in just one day and WG is definitely under the radar, perfect daily watch my opinion

OP, this is going to depend very much on how anxious you get about scratches and damage to your watch. If you don’t particularly care then PM and SS is pretty much the same outcome.

Specifically, the Daytona oysterflex makes for a better daily if you’re worried about the inevitable bracelet rashes and shabby appearance of any metal bracelet after a relatively short period of normal wearing.

Another issue with the Daytona PM watches is the bezel. Namely its a scratch magnet and screams at your eyesight when it gets wrecked and damaged by day to day normal wear. Again, if you don’t care, go for it.

I have one PM Daytona. It’s had two bezels replaced in about 2 decades and one side (the 12 o’clock side) of the bracelet. The bezels looked like scrap metal after about 8 years and seriously downgraded the appearance of the watch and the bracelet was so worn out that it couldn’t be polished anymore.

Don’t recall if I responded to this already. If I did then let me reiterate that PM Daytonas can be a daily especially in this config…Ive got others in the collection so I don’t but could easily daily this Daytona.

You get used to the increased weight on your wrist so quickly. PM as a daily is no problem at all. Just be a little more aware of your watch on your wrist as hairline scratches and dings seem to accumulate a little quicker on PM due to the nature of the alloy.

You haven’t lived until you have crawled under your house wearing a PM Daytona I actually forgot I had it on and it wasn’t until I was already under the house when I realized I didn’t take it off…

Yes & yes.

PM is definitely daily wearable. If you're worried about other people: don't. Not a single person, unless they're a WIS, will notice. You may get a "nice watch" casual comment from those not in-the-know. If you're worried about the heft or value going out in the world: don't. If you're gonna worry, don't get it. Don't go rolling around on concrete, but it is a very nice tool in a very nice package (get your mind outa the gutter!). Putting on a PM piece in the morning makes your day 1% nicer.

This will be my most worn watch for 2024 and most likely beyond.

Comfortable, under the radar, decent weight, ceramic bezel and no pcls getting wrecked / bracelet stretch.

I know that steel is harder than WG but I would like to hear opinions from someone who have WG PM Daytona.

Oh, and btw… I’m looking for 116509 with steel dial as meteorite is “impossible” to get :)

Thanks in advance.
