The current production sub has four line dial is really unnecessary IMO.

any SS current generation 12xxxx, in my opinion, and LV MK2 might be the best of all

I think the white gold Sub with black dial and blue bezel is the ultimate Sub.

First was a 5 digit bluesy.
others plus a Kermit …
Current, last and only is a 14060M 4 line G serial w the essential LUGHOLES.

In an alternate universe, I really like the Smurf :)

White gold with the blue (dial and) bezel would be my choice.

It depends on what you define as "best." The newest will always be the best by virtue of the fact that it will have the latest technology. Then it's just personal preference on material/color. But in my opinion, the best of the traditional black SS models is the reference 16800 with the matte dial.

It has the vintage look with patina on the tritium hands and markers, but with a modern sapphire crystal, quick set date, and 1000 ft depth rating. I straddles that line between vintage and modern so nicely. The hard part is finding one without replacement hands or original corroded ones.

I love my 116610 and like the look of the Starbucks but won't buy one as i think their company values are for the dumpster.

It's a three way dead heat for me.

Plus the 116619LB.

So many variants going back so many years. Something for everyone. You can't go wrong with a Sub.
