Interesting all the answers. Not many patterns other than a lot of Rolexes being owned. What does seem to be more common among multiple watches is for them to be "tool watches" (like subs, gmts, daytonas).

First I bought a DateJust and then I bought a DateJust.
Why? Call me crazy but I liked the dark blue dial on the second one. And I did not like the feeling when my first DJ was being serviced. 6 Weeks without my DateJust was a bit too long. So i figured a second watch will come in handy one day. Actually it gets ,more wrist time than the first even if I try to give them one month each. Last edited by Skutt50; 28 April 2009 at 05:27 AM.. First came the one on the left; next was the one on the right
Then along came this: And finally In between and after there have been a bunch more. All still here; none sold, traded or given away. Not my style.

More than one
Got the Speeding at a pawn shop in Nevada (where good watches are traded in for one last lucky hand of cards) because I always wanted a Rolex. It didn't work. Found a great guy in Portland, OR who fixed it. Perfect then but really small for a man's watch.
Got the Oyster Date the same way only it worked and still does perfectly. The gold 1940 tonneau case came from an estate sale in the UK. The 1927 silver cushion case at a shop near Melbourne Australia. I had also collected several great Omega Seamasters at bargin prices that I sold on Ebay. Then I was able to buy the Sub z series new. Point is: you don't need a great deal of money to get quality things, even Rolexes. Part of the great pleasure is knowing where to look and what you are looking for. Lots of fakes out there. But, if you are careful, you can get a really nice collection through patience and research. Rolex is not for the rich...it is for the discriminating. |
