Can’t decide...

Explorer II is travel watch/beater, it stays.

Patek PC is my daily wear, it stays.

The rest is up for grabs, some I have and some I don’t.

Would like to reduce to 5.

Ps new Ed white speedy also in consideration but not sure where it fits in.

My two cents--

Variety in model, color, bracelet, bracelet finish, size, movement/functions, etc.

With that in mind- my idea of the perfect collection would have representation from Sub, GMT, DJ, DD and Daytona lines...

This is close to what I have (except no DD or Daytona)... We actually don't like Daytona's on our wrist as much as we like them in photos. They wear small and don't "pop"..

We chose Hulk for our Sub since we think black subs are too common and we already have an Omega Moonwatch for our "black watch"... And the way that green dial dances with light- just wow. The oyster is brushed which is a nice touch...

We have two GMT's because Batman on oyster and Pepsi on jubilee really are different watches and this line is our favorite.

We love our Datejust 2 because it is a classic dressy Rolex DJ with more masculine features and proportions. This watch was not on our radar until we saw one in person and were hooked. The blue sunburst and fluted WG bezel are so sharp. The oyster has polished center links. This model was discontinued for the DJ41 which is actually smaller and has less blingy of a bezel and smaller dial markers.

Ideally we could have 4-5 modern and 4-5 vintage.

Really interesting question...I'm stuck on two. I like my duo so much that I'm having a really hard time picking the next one, but here we go:

1. Black dial 42mm Explorer II - the foundation of my collection. Many have come and gone, but this one will never leave. My daily wearer.
2 SS Pepsi GMT Master II - fantastic partner in crime to the Explorer II; jubilee vs. oyster, 40 vs. 42, colorful vs. steel bezel, refined vs. masculine.

The ones I don't have yet:
3. Patek Calatrava (5196R)
4. Explorer - perfect weekender and the watch I will give my son one day. He's 15 and this is the only non-Apple watch that he loves.
5. Got to have a diver....Bluesy.

When I was building my collection, I was aiming for a balanced 5-piece collection and focused on brand diversity, functional usefulness, fit for occasion, and of course, haute horological with the holy trinity. In addition, I wanted to focus on watches that were iconic for the brand and, as such, weren’t simply a fad and I wouldn’t get tired of quickly and be tempted to flip.

My current collection:

1. Diver/Beater - Submariner

This was actually the 6th watch in my collection that I added later when I started diving and realized that I “needed” a diver.

2. GMT/Travel Watch - 16710 Pepsi

This is the one that started it all 17 years ago. Birth year watch for my son that will likely be the first to leave the collection.

3. Dress watch on leather strap - I can’t decide which I would leave out so leave them both in (sorry, these give me 6) - PP 5146G and VC Patrimony

4. Stainless Steel iconic sports watch - AP 15202ST

5. Chronograph - 1968 Speedmaster - in this case, I added vintage as well

So far, this collection has completely satisfied the itch for over 3 years. I drool over a lot of the pictures of incomings on here and would be happy to add to the collection but I have not thought about flipping anything and probably won’t add any more watches for a while.

Oh yeah, there is actually a seventh “watch” in the collection that comes out for special occasions...

This post has been helpful for me to think through where I want to go. My original post was somewhat unrealistic. Here's my revised - more realistic - picks. I'm not in a hurry, but I think I can get there in a year or two. In the interim I'm going to enjoy what I currently have.

1. Explorer
2. Explorer II (might swap black for polar)
3. Submariner Hulk
4. GMT Master II Pepsi
5. JLC MUT small seconds

I’ll go with five that I have:

Exp II 42mm Polar
GMT 16700 Pepsi
SkyD Blue
AP 15500 RO
Drive de Cartier

My first watch, the beloved Breitling Steelfish, has been left off. Pouring one out for her!

Think I’m covered for all scenarios

1. Explorer II 216570 Black
2. Sky-Dweller 326935 Rhodium
3. Yacht-Master 42
Honestly Pretty happy with nothing else... but onto five:
4. Moser 42mm Blue Tourbillon
5. Lange Zeitwerk, flavor of the day. Tomorrow may be a Richard Mille if binge drinking or Breitling Emergency if feeling adventurous.

Honorable mentions. Tudor Pelagos Blue, Sky-Dweller Blue, AP RO 15500st Blue
