This doesn’t apply for re-registered watches right?

If not, then having the card never registered would help here

My SA told me they've been informed to advise against removing your watches from insurance as it's a trial period of the additional coverage program, it's technically not an insurance policy so there's not a 100% guarantee you'll get compensated or get a replacement watch.

Who knows. The insurance is pricey so I personally might reduce my coverage once I get the additional coverage activated.

That's how I understood it. Not for re-registered watches. I don't know about never registered watches though. I wonder how they would treat those..

Seems like a bit of a faff if you have bought a lot of pieces in 2022 and 2023 but I really applaud AP taking the lead on this serious issue.

Presumably the insurance doesn't cover the hospital bill if your arm gets hacked off to get the watch which has become a terrifying reality in certain parts of the world.

Yes the larger concern remains your personal safety not the value of the watch. This wouldn’t make me any more comfortable flexing a RG 16202 in London, NYC, LA, Paris etc

My wife’s went through fine. Mine came up with an issue about my date of birth. So need to see if that was written down incorrectly when I got my 1st AP.

if it makes you feel any better they rejected one of the watch. They asked "We need complete photos of your watch with UPLOAD PHOTO OF THE BACK CASE WITH THE UNIQUE CODE". No worries, though. I resubmitted again this morning.

Thanks I tried to submit a new request with the right pics but got an error. Likely due to the fact that there is a pending application already. I'll just wait for the email.

I got an error message the first time and it was due to the file size of the picture. You might want to resize the photo and try again.

A great move by AP! With there being no promise as such of a replacement (at AP discretion) , is everyone comfortable removing the watch from existing insurance?

Giving this some thought now...this would matter if the pieces trade above retail and if you cared about recouping that difference. I only have one piece like this, I'll probably take the risk and assume they would replace it as it's not some uber rare model. Curious to hear others thinking on this.

I got the approval email less than 24hrs after I submitted the request. Great service.

Personally I'd keep the watch I usually daily on insurance at market value and then the other safe storage watches get removed. My thinking is let's assume (big if and assumption) the most likely route is just the list price repayment instead of replacement. How likely are they going to bother replacing a '50th edition' rotor for example? My personal guess is low.

So to get the exact same watch back on the wrist, I'd need market price and then just go buy another immediately.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I agree, my model is not rare so am happy to take the chance. I would be happier with a replacement from AP rather than market value. I will discuss how much this would bring my insurance down with the broker.

Replied with my date of birth and within 24 hours got an email confirming my watch had been added.

Some may be cynical about this, but I think it’s a fantastic offering from AP and just adds that extra bit of extra security

Can someone clarify what supporting evidence AP would need to be willing to replace a stolen watch?? A police report, pics of crime scene, other? They must have a protection against fraudulent claims, but I don’t see how they can completely avoid that.
