As others have said, if you go the Omega diver route, there are finer choices than that. Between these two, speedy.

I am a fan of the Seamaster, no need for the sub dials. I like a clean simple look.

both are my absolute loves, and I would definitely add both to my collection one day, but my first was an SMP and Speedy would be my second, although Speedy is a bigger true classic but I needed a more water resistant thing...both are wonderful and I will get both one day no wrong decision here :)

Need to revive this thread. I'm in the same boat. I own the SMPc and am seriously contemplating the speedy. Is the speedy a practical daily beater? The hand wind movement and hesalite seem to make it not. Who here has owned both; a seamaster auto and speedy? Chime in. I see that the majority here prefer speedy over SMP.
Is the speedy a larger watch? |

I was looking at these two a few weeks back and it's a tough one. The dealer said if you are going to buy an Omega then buy the Speedmaster, it is undoubtedly one of if not the most iconic watches ever made. Looking at your other watches the Speedy would give you more variety but then again maybe you prefer diver watches? Good luck.

The Speedy by far.
Probably an outlier in the Omega forum, but I don't care for the skeletonized handset. If I was going to get a modern Omega diver it'd probably be the 2254.50. |

Speedy is what I bought a few years ago, the plain white hands are easy to see for old eyes and I was amazed how good the lume is. Just something about the Speedy that I can't put in words.
