I really love the Submariner date steel... I like it because it is still a fine movement watch... and it is simple in the sense of not having gold/white gold or diamonds, like I've seen in some people... plus I tried it on my wrist in a store and I just felt like wow.

So question is... 24 years old, too young to get an Steel Submariner? One of my best friends said I should wait until I am at least 30.

What do you guys think?

Cheers!

Thanks.
Politely tell him to mind his own business.

I didn't get my Sub until I was 48. Congrats on doing it at 24!!

You did it in half the time it took me.

24 is not young for any SS watch at all. When I was at highschool, ( we were 16-17 ) one rich friend of us was coming to school with several models of SS Rolexes each different day.
Those days were the first times in my life when I said that, ' I must buy a Rolex one day '. I am 39 and had my first ever brand new Rolex last week. I can say that I wish I had it when I was 17.
Just my opinion.

I wouldn't get a Patek perpetual at 24 but a Submariner seems like a good "luxury" sports watch purchase. Assuming you've already had the obligatory Tag.

I have always had the money but waited until I bought my house first. I guess I had different priorities and plans for my cash. This meant that I had to hold off for a while. I do not regret it at all.

I think the age is much of a problem. It will kind of also depend on what outfit you usually wear. But your age is of course fine...

wear it at the right place, i don't buy the idea of wearing one in school/university as being a I'm rich look at me ahole. But once you start working, you are independent of anything. So earn your buck to get a decent watch that last a long while and re-sale value.

If you plan to travel a lot in the future, get the GMTII or Explorer II.

I don't think there is a right age...it's all about the maturity of the individual.

Never too young IMHO as mentioned it is not an age thing but more of a maturity level I had my first at 21 and never looked back

Your friend has a problem with his thinking.

As long as you`re not wearing Lederhosen to school I think you`re old enough to wear a Rolex.

Do what you want. I turn 21 next saturday and have a PAM 112, SD, and just paid half of my DSSD that ill get in 2 months. Why? I work my ass off and decided I already invest enough and dont have a wife/gf/family/kids to answer to or take priority.

Do what you want. What makes you happy.

You should have gotten one at 18yo!

A Subbie is the perfect watch to spend your 20s with.

In your 30s get a DJ, then DD in your 40s and beyond!

Age doesn't matter as long as you appreciate the watch and it 'speaks' to you....which it sounds like the Sub C has!! Now you just have to decide if you want the Sub C or the classic 16610 with aluminum bezel - you'll win either way!
