Romans have their place for sure, and I really appreciate how they pop on some dial/ bracelet combinations. With that said, I don't love them personally.

I like sticks, I like Arabic numerals a lot, and I like the circle indices (probably because I've been wearing a Sub or GMT most of my life).

I like roman BUT I need lume in my watch because I sleep with my watch on and check time several times at night. Is a tool in the end and I need his function.

Both look great! However, I think the sticks are cleaner look. The roman numerals can look a tad busy imho.

Sticks but to each their own. I'd be okay with the Roman numerals depending on the dial color.

Stick only for me, numerals look to busy in my opinion and no lume.

Your watch, your money, your decision.

Personally I will always go for sticks and not numbers. I have one watch with Arabic numbers at five minute intervals from 00 to 55. It looks cool in my collection because it's so different. I don't dig Roman numerals at all. Far too fussy and space inefficient. Even Romans don't use them any more.

My wife likes Romans. She's probably going to end up with a DJ with Romans at some point.

But like I said, your watch.....

Interesting. I tend to think the other way around. At least with Arabic numerals.

When I picked my DJ, I went with the Roman dial (specifically, the 36mm/white roman/domed/oyster combination). One thing that doesn't come across very clearly in photos is just how much more prominent the hands are on the Roman dial. Because there's no strip of lume in the middle, the hands are broad, glimmering slabs of white gold that really stand out in person.

I prefer stick dial on a Datejust, only exception is the Wimbledon, that one looks good with roman numerals.

I prefer sticks and Lume. Easier to tell the precise time with sticks.

When Rolex Company was founded manual transmission was the only option for an automobile. This is why the first Rolex watches had stick dials.

my preference is the lume stick dial as I like the versatility. Also, I has the romans on it to.

Not based on popularity
That's the exact combination of my first Rolex, but it was an older 16234 version. The AD I got it from had a very large selection (this was twenty years ago) and that's the one my eyes locked onto. I have an OP 36 now and often wondered what it would look like with a no-date Roman dial.
