I have a few (9 total), I prefer ball points and roller balls for daily carry, but have a couple of 149's in fine and extra fine for use at home and office. For me they have been robust and reliable. My oldest I bought new 30 years ago and it still finds its way into the rotation. My latest additions are the George Bernard Shaw fountain pen (fine point) and ball point. For those thinking about this pen I strongly urge you to do it. It is a fantastic pen, especially the fountain pen. I hear that Mont Blanc is raising prices October 1. (I think more reliable than the rolex price increase predictions)

I got my Bernad Shaw fountain pen and am loving it. Here is my humble collection minus the star walker soulmaker.

Does anyone have an opinion of Caran d'Ache.
I have been looking for a nice pen and I've been offered a leman black/rhodium fountain brand new at a ridiculous price by a jeweller friend. This should be an almost £300 pen, I can get it for next to nothing. Any ideas????? J |

http://www.mojolondon.co.uk/statione...untain_pen.htm Truth is I know bugger all about pens, but a good deal is a good deal and this seems like a great one!!!!! J |

Hi Guys,
I am thinking of getting a Mont Blanc fountain pen. I have never had a fountain pen before and would like to try one. Does anyone know where I could get a used (cheep) one from? I don’t like Ebay (I have been ripped off a few times now). If anyone knows where I can get a used Mont Blanc fountain pen from (that ships to Canada) or knows someone that wants to sell a used Mont Blanc fountain pen Please PM me. Thanks, Eric |

I have one of the Fisher Space Pens like a few of the previous posters.
My Dad gave me a Mont Blanc ball-point in High School. I used it for about 5 years, but left it in the sleeve pocket of a flight suit which I washed, and never saw it again. I guess with pens I am like those guys who question the need to spend a bunch of money on a Rolex when a Citizen or Casio will do. I get all of my pens free from vendors. I did spend a few dollars on Rotring mechanical pencils. I use a .9mm for day-to-day use, along with a blue ball point for signing stuff. I'm an IT guy, and a fancy pen seems like a lawyer type of accessory. I suppose if I had a nice one I'd change my tune. |

Now I use a .9 mm plastic Pentel pencil, and my pen of choice is BIC.

and I still have a collection of pens from vendors along with everything else you could imagine....plus all the ones stolen from hotels. I have a Mont Blanc that and old GF gave me in 1992 I think. I was never into pens much and would just lose them. You are Right maybe if I was a Doc or Lawyer. |

I bought her a Meisterstuck Legrande (161) Bordeaux (ballpoint) for our anniversary. The store gave me an extra refill and it's a good thing too because the ink refill in the pen was sporadic and I replaced it for her the next day.

Thanks. It's her first "nice" pen and it's got a nice feeling of substance (weight) behind it.

Meisterstuck fan
Gentle reader,
2 Black Meisterstuck pens (one marked E Germany!) and 1 Black Meisterstuck pencil. The pen marked E Germany was purchased for $59.00 new on sale in the mid 1980's and cracked after a long nasty drop on a concrete plant floor. It cost $70.00 to repair at the Montblanc store at Lenox Square in Atlanta last month. The other pen and pencil were purchased for around $80.00 new in the early 1990's long before Montblanc decided to pull them from office stores and raise prices. I have all the original boxes as well. I also purchased a pen and pencil set for my father for $80.00 each in the early 1990's and one pen for my wife. I'm shocked they have "appreciated" in "value" so much in recent years but then I paid $150.00 for a blue Tudor Date Sub with Rolex Sub band 15 years ago and am shocked at what they bring now also. Respectfully, Mr. Manners |
