Bachelors in political science, and you guessed it, a law degree, albeit one I never used. Instead, of all things, I sell museum quality fossils! (no, actual fossils, not the watches. :) )

International Economics (Mphil) - University of Cambridge Rolex stable: 16600 M serial Sea Dweller 1680 Red Submariner 16610 V serial Submariner 116400V Milgauss 16520 A serial Daytona And now I'm looking for a 16610LV. I should note that last year at this time, I had exactly one Rolex (up until that point I had stuck mostly to Patek and IWC). I signed up for TRF, connected with DavidSW, and the madness began. |

No degree, I opted for the USAF instead. The real world experience, memories made & life lessons learned are far more valuable to me than any nicely framed paper to hang on my office wall. I could pursue said nicely framed paper now via the GI Bill but a degree would be of little benefit given my chosen profession.
Down to just one Rolex, my Sub-C.... found that Panerai was more to my liking. |

I would like to note that a formal education is a real-world experience and that a formal education is worth much more than the diploma (nicely-framed or otherwise), which one has to purchase separately, by the way, or the increased income one might derive from it, which is not guaranteed either. At any rate, it is the education achieved by whatever means that is important and a career in the Air Force provides a very valuable educational option. Semper Fidelis!

I'm a Technical Recruiter with Engineering being my preferred niche so I definitely see the value of formal education BUT not all formal education is worth the time/debt spent to achieve it. Many would be far better served attending a Trade School or joining the mil to actually learn a skill-set & just as importantly, sound work habits. There are far too many degrees out there that are no more useful than a roll of Charmin & many are finding this out the hard way, unemployable & swamped in student debt. We need a massive overhaul of our formal education system & a rethink of the importance placed on 4 year degrees as a whole for non-technical type roles. Stepping off my soapbox. |
