I dont think I could ever be "off' Rolex.....unless a shiny Rado came along.... but really, I can see myself wearing a GMT or a Sub for the rest of days.So far I went through 5 Rollies and kept 2 so far.I see more in the future.

Yes--I just got my first Rolex two days ago. I love the watch but I could live without it.

However, I couldn't live without my Ferrari.

Yes I could I wore my panerai gmt 88 for about 6 months straight and ignored my coke gmt for that whole time. When I did finally wear my coke it felt too small so out it went and a new ss ceramic gmt took it's place. It has not left my wrist since but when I purchase my iwc big pilot it will have to take a back seat! There will always be one in my collection.

If my circumstances changed and I had to downsize to one watch it would definitely be a Rolex, probably my 16600. Could I do without it? probably but it would hurt like hell!

I have gone without a Rolex for some time.... it was when I suffered my worst bouts of "mental illness"

I tried other prestege brands - Cartier, JLC .... but I always need 1 Rolex.

Believe it or not.... my favorite wearing watch is my 16234 with silver dial! I just love to wear it! It fills so good. I also have a Patek 5107 but the white gold case is easily scratched - so it is only for special occassions now.

LIFE WITHOUT ROLEX - is not worth living!

Well....

I have owned this one for 29 years so I would say that I am in for the long haul.

However, your question of could I ever do without one? Sure, they are only wristwatches. If I truly needed the money or had some other very important family commitment that required it, I could sell them all.

Just wondering if any of us will ever "outgrow" a Rolex?

Can you picture yourself owning one for the next 40 years??

Been there, done that, not outgrown it, still wearing it!

Rolex feels good ...to me Breitling feels better...both well made... but Breitling offers more diversity in styles.
Also enjoy the ability to change any Breitlings looks with link bracelets, mesh bracelets, calf and crocodile leather with deployments or tang, and carbonite rubber also deployments or tang...something that Rolex does not offer as much as they should.
You can change the whole look of a Breitling with these options.
After awhile any watch becomes boring and a new look can give it new life.
Another aspect is...
All designers want control of their market, but Rolex takes it too far and cause over the top artificial value for price .

I will always have to have either a Rolex or Panerai. About 10 years ago I went broke and had to downgrade to an Omega for about a year and it really bugged me.

If under dire financial constraints - Yes, I could get rid of them and be without them. Would I want to? NO. Thankfully I have other possessions that I can sell and leave my Rolex as a last resort if this were to ever happen

My SD is the only one in my collection that is not expendable, as it was an Engagement gift from my wife. That being said, my recently acquired Daytona is at the end of the flip list.

I loved my first Rolex from the start...and having this forum has only given me so much more appreciation for the brand and its beauty and craftsmanship.

So I will always be a Rolex owner...that's for sure!

As much as I love my watches, sure I could do without them if I absolutely needed money for an emergency. Hopefully, that won't be the case. I'll bet we can all agree on that.

Panerai an upgrade over Omega? IMO, you have your brands reversed. Big time.

...... A Patek 5165/7, or AP 15300 would tempt me to drop ROLEX.

I own 3 Omega's and really dont think of them is downgrading when I wear them.

The only problem (to me) with Omega is the service

Rolex is what got me hooked on watches. While I have deversified greatly since my first Rolex, I will always own at least one Rolex. I've had ten Rolexes in 10 years, and don't see it slowing!
