I've never really thought a whole heck of a lot about it. I have yet to run into another WIS or watch addict except here on forums. I truly pay little attention to others wrists and would not want them to pay any attention to mine!

I don't like people staring at my wrist, no more than i like people staring at my car, because invariably they put two and two together and get five.
Low profile is always the policy.

At the track, when I was a driver wearing a Polar Exp.II, often noticed the number of folks who wore Rolex - Daytona's, Sub's, Explorer's - they were prevalent. All SS models worn in the Paddock, BTW. I always thought that the wearer valued quality - and noticed they had more organized Paddock space than in general.

Now I'm in the Tower, and notice a difference - lots more YG, WG, TT Rolex - almost all Daytona's...
...so I had to do an upgrade to a TT Panda dial.

I seem to notice that the YG crowd are the more imperious, officious types...

it's complicated...

maybe I'm over-generalizing...

If it's got lug holes, I think "curmudgeon".

If it's a SubC (or other moderista piece), I think "sweet watch"

Hmmmm, so has your personality changed since you started wearing TT?

I wonder if mine changes when I wear 18K...

I know! Like, did he buy it from an AD at list, does he know the AD well enough to get a discount on sports models, did he buy from a forum seller, if so, is the card open, or named and dated.... So many stories! :)

Seriously though, maybe it's just me but, any time I try to get a good enough look at someone's watch I come close to getting caught and looking like a moron.

For some reason I too only will comment on a Pam if I'm wearing mine. Perhaps I feel it's more likely the Pam wearer is a watch enthusiast. I've engaged people in conversations about our Pams before, I don't think I'd do it for Rolex, more of a chance it's either fake, or the person hasn't a clue about watches in which case I now look like a big dork.

I hardly ever see them in the wild but when I do I wonder about the story behind the watch...I am sure there is always a story behind every Rolex....

I don't really evaluate the person beyond trying to determine if have a better car, house, or make more money than they do. If so, I let them know it.

I just have a look at it if I can, determine roughly which model it is. I never strike up a conversation.

Why on earth would that person want to spend so much money on a watch?

Ugh, I hate hearing that one
Then you see the people turn around and spend thousands on whatever it is that interests them. Some people...

I do think quite a lot of the things that have been said here...but mostly I enjoy the fact that I can identify the exact model now more and more. So I no longer think "Is that a Rolex?" after being here for a few months I'll spot the model and know a bit about it too!

I learned long ago not to make any judgement on a person's financial status based on what they wear, drive or where they live. Some people live their lives on credit and "buy" whatever their credit cards, home equity loan, etc. can afford.

If someone is wearing a particularly unique or vintage watch I may strike up a conversation about the watch.

I wear a Rolex, drive a Ford truck, usually wear shorts and tee-shirt and live in a middle class neighborhood. What does that say about me?

Just be you and don't worry about what others think of what you wear, drive or where you live.

"Don't worry, be happy!"
