I have my Panerai off and on weeks. Never really have a Rolex off week ;-)
The 233 is indeed one of my fav Panerais, even though I'm no big fan of the big tang PR display. And I do have a love/hate relationship to the DSSD as well. I dig both a lot but if I could only have one watch, it wouldn't be either of those. |

As cool as the Deep Sea is looking down at it, this is the reason why I HATE the watch...
It looks so goofy from the side and typically Rolex Proportions are so beautiful, personally I think this one drops the ball... 233 ALLLLLL THE WAY!!! |

My 5 cents ... I prefer DSSD, unless its PAM311 different story.

Prefer the 233...I have a Sub and Daytona and love Rolex, but have tried the DSSD on three times and didn't like it.
233 is one of my favorites. |

Had the DSSD and sold it because it was to heavy and sat to high on my wrist. I don't have a 233 but I do have a 312 and would choose the Pam over the DSSD

Btw I'm in PA and have lots of family in Quincy , Braintree and Boston. Maybe evn just trade for a few weeks or a month to see what we both really think before doing anything. Has it ever been done before? |

Nothing wrong with either, but fit and comfort would be the primary decider given their size/thickness.

Hey Rich - yes I had the same feeling. I SOOOO wanted to buy the DSSD - but every time I tried it on, it was just too thick for my puny wrists. The 233 is a real stretch for me too, perhaps borderline...

DSSD, no comparison, I'm not sure why it's even a discussion. DSSD is the best Rolex steel watch and it will beat any steel PAM by 10 folds.

As i own both, 233 is the best in term of there are no fake pams can get even close. But rolex is rolex, more recognition. My answer would be deepsea.

my vote is for the 233. DSSD doesn't do it for me. Not a fan of the wording around the ring and the tapered bracelet.

I'd pick a Sea Dweller over the Deep Sea. But in this case, 233 all the way!
Good luck! |

Very , Very difficult decision. I own a DSSD and Pam 343 and 161. The 233 is the perfect Pam in the 1950 case and i think will be a classic.Otherwise the DSSD is a perfect watch to use everyday if you have a generous wrist like me.
Whatever you get . The one chosen will be good. The other will appear always at your future dreams and it doesn´t disappear until you get it |

If I was working for Harry Stamper, I would probably get the DSSD :-)

I too am on the fence for my third panerai or the dssd. I have tried the dssd at my local AD and love the watch. I am looking for a bracelet watch and I keep coming back to the dssd. Or I go completely sideways to another panerai or even the IWC Big pilot. This decision is driving me crazy. I am used to the bigger watches as I have the couple of Panerai and also have the likes of Bell & Ross Br-01 94, Graham Swordfish Black Knight, Uboat 50mm, so I feel the dssd would be okay for me. The multiple reviews I read from the forum members here complain about the size of the dssd, but I realize that these members don't wear a watch larger than a 40mm, please please help with this decision, never owning a Rolex will it satisfy me?

i have both dssd and 233, love both
the 233 is alot more comfy on the wrist and looks more dressy the dssd's heft and weight constantly reminds you of its fantastic 3,900m ratings cant go wrong with either |
