I'd suggest the DJ2 116300, Explorer 39, new OP 39, or a used GMTc nonBLNR in that order, but I'm not a fan of the 5 digit models. Maybe a real nice 14060m or a Tudor Big Block if you like the older models.

do you want a sports watch or more versatility?

personally, i would be sorely tempted by a new 39mm OP.

Agree on the SubC being a "can't go wrong" decision for that money.

Everyone has a sub, but a discontinued Milguass is something different. I always had friends admiring mine when I had one.
Very comfortable on my 8" wrist

Some dealers will even sell you the 214270 Explorer 39mm for $5k, bnib.

Good luck and congrats!
You know of SubCs for $5k? Please hook a brother up.

I recently bought a new white Milgauss from DavidSW for not much more than that. I highly recommend it. Whatever you decide, I would reach out to David. He is the the best!

I totally agree with this. I kept wanting to play it safe with the 39 mm Explorer, but every time I looked at the white Milgauss it made me smile. Go with the one you love!

Why not get a used ceramic no date Sub at that price point?

Just make sure that Diet Coke is poured into a glass first.

a pelagos is a strong consideration and leaves money to spare… i never really appreciated that watch until i recently had a chance to see it in person and to put it on my wrist.

I have been through 12 Rolexes/3 Omega's/2 Panerais
...flipping back and fourth

Save your time and $$ and just get a Sub Date 16610 (or 16600 SD)

Got a pre owned 114060 from DSW for little under 6 with all the goodies and it was perfect. Would suggest the newer model with ceramic is worth the extra few $.

At that budget, you can't go wrong with a 40mm Explorer II, or a sharp 14060 two liner

If you can, try it on before you buy it. I just had an expensive transaction where I found out that the Sea Dweller is too big for me.

Try it before you buy it.

Cheers,

Ben
