Training update, had a fun run this morning. Spotted a few wild boar in the woods, went through all stages of happiness, pain and weakness. Still pushed on for a decent time.

Have fun!! My long distance days are over. Retirement feels good. I'll leave it for you young whipper snappers.

Bas, you are an animal. Good luck friend. Train hard.
Sometimes when I meditate, I visualize running 55KM which is much easier than actually doing it LOL

When I meditate I visualize calmly floating one inch off the floor. Running dozens of miles through the wilderness expired as an ambition 20 years ago. Bas’ ambitions are crazy hard, which makes them ultra cool.

We have much in common. Levitation is one of my favorite meditation practices.

Nah, 42. However, I've been doing Ironman distance races for over 12 years. Sometimes two a year with multiple half irons AND the training that goes with it. Before that, I raced National hare scrambles and GNCC which is basically a 3 hour motocross through the woods, jumping creeks/gullies, dodging trees, etc. My body has had more than it's fair share of punishment.

You look way too good to be 42 though, are you sure it's not 32? |

Swimming is cool & those races sound super cool, but unlike you I'm not a talented swimmer. I'm just flopping around and not really moving fast. |

Doing some calculating. If all goes well I will end up with 3 ITRA qualifying points that one can accumulate for the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc. Now the big UTMB race requires too many points from just three races so this is too hard for now.
So with 3 points this year and next year maybe (2019) a 50miler in the alps (salomon Zugspitz ultratrail 80km) I can qualify for the 2020 OCC Mont Blanc trail which is the smallest (55km) trail they offer, next to the prestigious UTMB. Then slowly build up to the 100km Mont Blanc qualification of 2021. I think I should be able to do the full UTMB 170km race before I hit 30. Just gotta push push push and get those points! |

Win as in be the first to finish? Well that is not going to happen. And to answer the question, nope you don't.

Last training update:
Ran a solo marathon today, went surprisingly well, felt a little tired in the legs at the end. I'm hoping for a good and strong ultramarathon, a little less than two weeks to go Will keep the pace quite a bit slower than today though, the extra 13km, 2km of elevation and all trail will be hard enough |
