Platinum DD is my grail. I tried on the Platona once, and couldn't get past the brown. Now black on a Platona, and I might change my mind.

Based on your collection, I’d say the DD, but a platinum model would pretty much overwrite the rest, and I would wear it the most, so I think the Daytona has more to keep me interested than the DD.

Personally, the 116506 spells the top of modern Rolex. My problem with the day date has always been the lack of fluted bezel for the platinum model... Otherwise it'd be a closer race. You could use some PM in the collection.. Or better yet other brands.

Voted DD40, that or the 36mm DD is one of my Grail watches.
The Brown on the Daytona Pt kills it for me.

Based on your collection I would get the DD40. You have so many oyster bracelet models that the president bracelet would be a nice change. Otherwise I like the Daytona better.

For you, I think I would look at the DD, since you already have two Daytona's.

Factor both of us out of the equation and I think I would give the slightest of nods to the Platona due to it's adjustability in the bracelet...with platinum, I think this would be important.

I would then recommend a DD. Which is also my holly grail in platinum, by the way and which I prefer over a Platona.

Now, both are stunning pieces.

Don't worry about value retention, when you own this one you can sell all your SS watches, these will get no more wrist time

(Great collection btw )

Between the two listed, I voted platinum DD40 because you don’t have a DD.

Personally, and based on your collection, I’d sell one of the 2 SS Daytona’s and buy a Platona and a DD40 in Everose.

Couple points I’d consider, if choosing between the two....
-The DD will show more wear on the bezel, but the bracelet hides scratches well. -The Daytona, just the opposite.
-The DD a bit more elegant vs a sportier Daytona
-Both are gorgeous, but I’d say the Daytona is more interesting to look at (with brown sub-dial version)

If I had your collection.....I’d trade the Daytona’s you have towards a YG DD40, and purchase the platinum Daytona. JMO
Good luck!
Having recently let a lot of watches go for the Pt Daytona, I can truthfully say that I don't miss the SS Daytona C in the least. I can't imagine keeping the other two once obtaining the Pt Daytona. Trading or selling the other two and buying a DD with fluted bezel would be terrific. Watch collections aren't fixed and can be adjusted as one is inspired to do so.

+1 for selling a SS Daytona toward a gold DD and adding the Platona.

I think your current collection is awesome, and although I am a huge Daytona fan, I think the DD would add some diversity to your group!

But lets be real, you can not make a wrong or bad decision.

This is a nice problem to have but looking at your collection, I’m surprised by the absence of a daydate. I would go for the DD, myself. Especially considering I I had that collection.

With that being said, if you add a platinum Daytona, I can’t imagine the other two Daytona’s would get much wrist time at all.

If it was just between the those two watches, I could see it being a toss up based on personal preference. Considering the entirety of your collection, I think the daydate is the way to go.

What did your poor BLNR do to deserve going in upside down?

Your collection is seriously incredible!

Get the DD40. As other posters have said you already have Daytona's you need something with a fluted bezel and DD is the king.

Oh yeah - I dont like the smooth but either way I would still choose the DD for the OP purely because he already has 2 Daytona's.

Seriously 3 of the same watch? I think 2 of the same model is maximum anyone needs.

I know many have commented about the smooth bezel, but on this watch, I think it looks great.
