I'm on the search for my fourth Rolex since I started wearing watches again on July 2019. I even got my old ones out from the drawers and cleaned them, and put them in a new display case . Try staying away from watch forums or you're doomed.

There’s a bit of a high from buying these watches. I suggest you hold out and enjoy what you have. Every day that goes by I less and less desire adding another to the stable and enjoy my one and only Rolex more and more.

Welcome. Yours is a common dilemma for which you will get no sympathy for on this forum. If Rolex gives you happiness my advice is to buy another, you could do a lot worse with your money.

Basically, when we acquire a new piece. It’s pure euphoria. Fireworks are literally going off in our head and producing a rush of serotonin. Some of this brain activity would literally mirror that of a drug attic getting their fix.

After some time, we still all have a positive emotional response when we put the watch on. But it’s never as intense as when we first drove to the ad or grey seller or buddy to pick it up. And soon, once the novelty wears out and the new watch becomes a bit familiar, it doesn’t excite us or illicit the same fireworks as when we first acquired it. So in a way, we’re all chasing that initial feeling - much like an amazing first kiss, which can never be fully replicated (especially after years and years of marriage)

And so the cycle begins all over again. We lust after that new watch feeling no matter how crazy it sounds to even us. We just need it. What’s more, with each acquisition, we chase after an even bigger high/rush. I’m a textbook example of this. I started out with a simple ceramic nd sub. Then I moved up to Batman/Pepsi, then a black/white ceramic Daytona, then a two tone ceramic RootBeer- which gave me a taste for precious metal. From there I moved up to a rose gold 116655 ym on oysterflex, ending (for now) with a wg Daytona 116519.

Pretty soon I’m going to need platinum to get my rocks off.

Though I will say this...after getting the 116519, I think I am ready for a fully committed relationship. I still have those same butterflies putting this watch on today as I did a couple weeks ago when I got it. And i can’t imagine getting anything else that would bring me more joy. We’ll see if this honeymoon lasts the long haul.
This! Being content and not looking for the next best thing is tough. Good luck!

Don’t worry about it, it’s normal. My first Rolex was a Milgauss. Got a Kermit one week later.

Exactly!!

When she surprised me w/ my pepsi last month, she told me the AD had the batman as well. I told her that I loved the pepsi and I really admire the color way of the batman model as well.
She was like, "well it does look pretty good, and I can see why these are so expensive. Lmk if you want it and we'll get it for you too."
(My wife isn't a watch person at all, but she definitely appreciates the fit and finish on a Rolex)
My jaw hit the ground, and it took every ounce of discipline in me to say no. I'm fine w/ different models of a brand in my collection, but different color ways of the same model, I gotta draw the line somewhere. Right?

Welcome to the dark side. To quote the lyrics of a certain song:
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax", said the night man
"We are programmed to receive
You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave"

I bought my first Rolex 26+ years ago and went 35 years without really wanting another one. I gave my original DJ to my son and that justified me getting another. Within a year I purchased another - I am good for a while!

I personally want to wear my Day Date until the end of time. I love the Jack Nicklaus theme of keeping one great watch your whole life and having it go everywhere with you. We'll see how that goes.

Well everyone needs a SS Professional *and* a SS Classic model... then another Pro in Two Tone, followed by a Classic in PM.

Frankly, it's quite irresponsible to stop at just one. Once you get your first one, might as well start looking right away.

It’s a sickness for sure. Bought my first Rolex in 2006. My second in 2016. I thought I can handle buying one every 10 years, seems responsible. Bought 3 in 2018. I’m infected
