I love VC but would not do this trade, I find the dial a bit sparse and don’t like the date window. If you were asking about a dual time it would be a harder decision. From a financial perspective it would seem like a bad idea to let a Daytona go for anything other than a Nautilus or Royal Oak right now. Your Daytona will probably be worth 5K more next week

I'm not overly infatuated with either watch so in general I'd do whatever feels right to you. I do like durable watches, and it seems that Rolex has that sewed up.

It's hard to make that call without having seen the VC in person, but if it sings to you in a way that the Daytona doesn't and price appreciation isn't part of equation, then pull the trigger. Like others said, just be certain before you pull do so. If on the fence, I'd wait.

I would. White Daytona will continue to go up though so don't be disappointed. Full disclosure I sold mine to fund the 126618LB from AD.

Here's a pic when I was grilling the other day and in the shade the blue is almost black. Very dynamic dial.

As you're aware holding the Daytona next to your 5500V doesn't bode well for the Rolex. Turn them over and the situation is even worse.

Don't know where the OP went. Generally speaking and in terms of haute horology, Daytona is not even on the same class/level as the Overseas. You would be better off selling the Daytona privately versus trading it in. Even with the rising prices of the Daytona, you would be surprised how much greys will be offering you for your trade in.

Simply put, sell Daytona privately for 45K ish. Buy a VCO for around 53K.

I would not! I love the VC, but if I could only have one, it would have to be the Daytona C!

So nice this will be mine one day - or the rose gold! The blue is just so appealing and I’m not a massive blue fan.

Awesome! Believe it or not the rose gold is even harder to get. Congrats on that very special BLRO by the way

The blue dial has been impossible in most places since mid-2020.

Yeah, it was hard to see one at the boutiques starting early 2020 (at least in SoCal). But he also said he was offered a discount too. Kinda crazy!

Own the white Daytona as well as 2/3 of the trinity sport models (5712/15202). Nothing will separate me from the Daytona - it’s too robust and versatile. You will regret it.

VCs are obviously in that top tier of watches but no one wanted them like a year ago. in terms of price and value for money the trade is worth it but you have to go into it knowing you might never own a daytona again. if you already have one then i would pass on the trade personally

VC blue dial is hands down the best in the industry. The blue lacquered dial is truly mesmerizing and shines in many shades of blue (from sunburst to dark navy/black).

I would trade the Daytona in a heartbeat for the Overseas. I'm fairly confident the Overseas will join the ranks of the Nautilus and Royal Oak very soon :)

Thank you everyone for chiming in. After giving much thought, I cannot part ways with my Daytona. Not sure what I was even thinking as it has taken me many years to finally acquire my grail piece. Many of you are right, it’s going to be hard to get it back.

Patience is a virtue. I will just wait and work with my SA. Hopefully she can come through at some point. In the meantime, I do have my Chrono to enjoy but just not a daily wear since it’s rose gold.

Very good decision.

Really? It was a different experience for me. PP, AP, VC were all clearly heads and shoulders above rolex in every aspect. Rolex marketing pics look great but in person, right next to an apro or vco, looked pretty cheap imo.

If you wear a Daytona everyone knows what it is. If you wear a VC 4500v 999 out of 1000 wouldn't know it from a Tissot. That's just the way it is. Rolex is the king for a reason and Daytona is the King of the Rolex line in terms of desirability and popularity so for me this is a no brainer. Keep your Daytona and then go out and buy whatever you like and add to your collection if you so desire but when it comes time to reach for a watch to wear day in and day out it will be the Daytona most often because it looks great, wears great, and can take a beating without defeating.

No. Can you find a way to have both? The Daytona is going up more than any watch on the market lately. Keep it.
