Voted option 3 -> I wear another brand as my beater watch. Could also be option 1
(Say which and why) -> Breitling when I need to go to less safe places. Others I wear in rotation. Only my Airking is a safe-queen and redundant since I own my Milgauss.

I honestly try not to use any of them differently as I believe as a watch, and in the case of Rolex one that sells itself a bit in the tool watch mystique (I realize they aren’t really anymore) that you should be able to wear them all accordingly.
However that being said I tend to wear my Seiko swimming. It is nautical themed as a save the ocean model and after having dragged my poor DJ across the bottom of the pool surface I think it’s for the best.

There is no universally accepted definition for beater. I have always seen it as a watch to wear when damage isn't just remotely possible but almost inevitable. I live on 4 acres and have all the equipment that comes with the territory of maintaining it. I do as much of the repair and maintenance of that equipment as possible myself. Mowers, tractor, ATV, chain saws, tree pruners, edger, power washer...plus I do a lot of vehicle maintenance, repair and modification.
Just like I don't wear a white dress shirt and designer loafers doing this work I don't wear a nice watch doing it. My tractor isn't impressed by a Rolex and at some point the crystal of whatever I am wearing will meet metal. If you don't have a real beater or if it isn't beat up...you probably don't really ever beat. Sent using Tapatalk |

G-shock is my only beater watch and a Rolex is on my wrist 99% of the time.

I use my rolexes as dailies but not beaters. My beater would be my swatch or gshock

I wear my watches (Rolex and Omega) for just about everything. If I am doing an acticity like cutting the grass for example, I dont want any watch on collecting dirt and rubbing against my wrist.

My 14060 Submariner is on my wrist 99.9% of the time, but when I´m going out at night to one of the less salubrious areas of the city where I live (they tend to have the best restaurants and pubs) I wear a G-Shock 5610U. I really don´t think anybody´s going to steal it off me and if so, who cares, I can get another one the next day...!

Therefore it’s not your beater. The whole point of a beater watch is to have an item you’re OK with wearing for rough activities. You said you remove it to do tasks, which means it isn’t a beater. You just west the Rolex is some less rough situations. |

I wouldn't say a beater per say. I wear Rolex almost everyday however, I am not banging it around. I am careful with my watches.

I’m just a working stiff so no my Rolexes are not beater watches. I have many other watches but mostly a couple of Seiko watches that I have I would consider beater watches.

Rolex - Beater or no Beater?
For me a beater is the watch I throw on to take my kids to park... lots of banging around and sweat so I stay away from metal bands since they slide on my wrist. I have tried a few, but this Archon GMT has really won me over. Feels incredible on the wrist and its always ready to wear being a quartz movement.

Yes I use beaters!
Casio G-7900 is my go-to beater. I wear it for any and all tasks where a decent whack to my watch is a major risk. Including bike and car maintenance, welding, mowing, yard cleaning, all jobs around the house.

I'm not rich enough to call my Rolex a beater, but I also don't abuse my watches either. I wear my transparent G Shock Casioak GA2100 for any activities that might damage the watch. I'll only wear my Rolex to the pool/water if I'm vacationing because I don't trust room safes. I might be in the minority here, but I prefer my Rolex to have less "character" and look crisp as possible.

pretty much get a good chuckle out of guys wearing ss models like a handbag. they are meant to be used, so let’s work with them (boat, car, garden, bike, hiking, whatever you enjoy doing).

I don't have a beater watch, per se, but I wear my TAG SS dive watch on my days off (weekends) and when I'm skiing.

I don't know exactly where this comes from (probably marketing AND seeing how friends/family wore Rolexes back in the day), but it's still impossible for me to dissociate Rolex with being a daily GADA-ish tool watch. That's just how I see the brand, despite how it's evolved. More so than almost any other watch brand.
As such, basically every Rolex model I've purchased has been one that I'd feel fairly comfortable wearing in almost any situation, and I've had a hard time pulling the trigger on models I don't see myself doing that with. That's led to some redundant models (I even created a separate thread about this), but it is what it is. Any of the Rolexes I own would probably be considered a GADA or 1-watch collection type piece by a majority of users here. I've walked around the Tenderloin in SF with a Sub Date on my wrist. Not sure I'd do this with even a TT Datejust. Maybe a false sense of security OR an overblown sense of "risk". Depends on who you ask. But the point being I see Rolex as a watch that should be worn, and as such I've tried to gravitate towards models that give me that ability. |

I always wear my Submariner. I don't mind it getting marked up, although dirty watches bother me, so I generally wash the watch when I get home/wash my hands.

I don’t consider it a “Beater”, however, my sub goes everywhere I go. For an idea visit the below referenced thread.

. I wear all my rolex so often that i basically look for opportunities to wear my beater watch. I like wearing it cycling, gym and camping. Daughter gave it to me, so I like wearing it when I get together with her too.
