well im not young or professional , but ill risk trying one on , thanks for the info.

Young professional just meaning it's good for someone who doesn't want to be too flashy, but still looks smart. Enjoy the hunt for one!

Love the look of the Explorer on leather!

I found a dealer with one in stock not too far away. Have plans to see it next week- can't wait!

Haven't been able to wear a watch lately. This thread makes me miss mine (that's locked away in my safe)!

Elegant. Clean, simple. Tough as a nail and yet refined at the same time.

Not against the 2016 update but it doesn't move me. And I doubt the lumed 3-6-9 would look as good as the WG 3-6-9...

a watch is meant to be worn

x2 - love the WG more and more every day.

In an ideal world I would have the new one at night and WG in the day!

My 214270 is a bit over two years old. After a honeymoon period, I rarely wore it because it wasn't as easy to read as my other watches. Recently though, it was become a favorite because it is so comfortable on the wrist.

What do you mean by being hard to read? I think I get what you mean - I often take longer reading the time on my exp than my old sub, but I can't work out why :/

Can any 1016 experts help me out, I'm the original owner since 86'. The serial number is 856 series.

The watch has sat for most of it's life in a night stand because I found wearing it uncomfortable and was scared to damage it.

I just recently started wearing it again and then stumbled upon this great forum. Any info about 1016's would be appreciated.

Cheers guys!

Ken

Often the white gold hands "gray out" against the black dial so you're depending upon the thin strip of lume to distinctly define the hand-especially the minute hand. When looking at the watch from certain angles or when light is reflecting off the hands, this is not a problem. I have a Ball WorldTimer which has the same issue. The new 2016 Explorer will probably be better in this regard as the hands and lume seem to broader.

The Ranger's hands are broader, as is the lume and quickly visible at a glance. It's the visibility issue which led me to choose the polar Explorer II.

The longer i've worn mine (2 weeks), the more I appreciate the design.
