You are right the date wheel should be white and not champagne and I didn't even notice until now. I had the RSC swapped out my old slate dial with Romans to this champagne dial. I kind of like the champagne date wheel for a matching look.

That's very interesting, Phong. Even the slate dial green numeral has a white date wheel. I wonder how that happened. Are you sure they didn't change it at RSC? Anyhow, it looks good.

Sam, it is very odd to have the champagne date wheel instead of the white. I do like it however I want to check with the RSC to see why this is the case. Thanks for bringing it up.

Yup my old slate dial has white date wheel.

That's a really great comparison shot showing the size of the DJ2 vs. the Sub

Hey guys-just wanted to introduce myself. I've been checking out this thread for the past few months and finally decided I needed to purchase my first Rolex. I went with the Datejust II Black Dial with 18k Fluted Bezel and I LOVE it. Also big thanks to Darian Rodriguez at TIME4LUXURY.com. He goes by MVPWatch on Ebay- got me an awesome deal and was very easy to work with.
I'm a photographer and took some photos of the "unboxing" that I thought you all might enjoy!

my first rolex

I am so glad they came out with the dj2. i was not interested in the brand at first (back in 2009, i didn't know they made these in 2009) as many were too small in diameter for my liking. the timing worked out that I could finally afford to get one I really liked! Now a proud rolex owner!

I think the champagne date wheel looks great honestly - I'd keep it the way it is. Definitely curious what RSC has to say about it however.

First Rolex

I have super-spindly wrists (6.25") and just bought a DJ II.

I had a Tag S/EL chrono which has served me well for the last fifteen years and I thought that most modern watches would be too big - but I tried the smaller DateJust and it was just too small. How fashions change, eh?

Anyway, I think this suits my stick-like arms perfectly. Others may disagree but hey, it's my wrist, my Rolex - my choice! :-)

There are many beautiful watches on this thread but, simple as it is, this was the only one for me. Black dial, smooth bezel and simple hour markers.

Actually looks very nice. It's true that it's 41mm, but it certainly wears a tad smaller. More like 39-40 IMO. Congrats!

Very very nice. Could you share more pictures, please. For some reason, I rarely see this beautiful combination here.

Just back from the AD. Mine came in today from Rolex. Stickers just removed. Not the best pic, better one later.

Complements my Explorer I 214270 nicely, I think. One for work, one for play!

Fogot to post my most recent acquisition. Flipped my smooth bezel DJII for a fluted, courtesy of justrolexes (Tony G). Very happy with it.
