Most browsers see it as a ZIP file.
While it is downloading, click on the download in progress file on your desktop and remove the dot zip extension. Everything after dot ipsw has to go.

yup.

No clue about how it looks on a PC but on a Mac the final download icon looks like a cube with musical notes on it.

ALT +Restore in iTunes, then when the window opens up select the file.
It takes about 10 minutes to upgrade, plus the time to get all your music and software back.

You will LOVE 3.0.

copy, paste, capability to email multiple photos at once, bluetooth stereo streaming, landscape keyboard... global search (just swipe right on home screen) etc.

It wasn't a small download. I had to use one of my client's fiber connection to get it and it still took awhile.

You need a larger upload pipe Chip.

Seriously, thanks for the file and it has been working great on my iPhone.

Even though you asked Jen, I'll respond as I have been using it now for a full day. It's fantastic. There are some nice little feature updates across the board. Very stable. I especially like the ability to forward text messages, Voice Memos is great, and cut, copy, paste is FANTASTIC!

And the new universal search feature is awesome. I rarely use my phone in landscape mode, so while it's nice to have, I am not really impacted by it. Things I want to still see, MMS activated!

This will give you an idea. It does a good job of breaking out the differences in capabilities between the two phones.

I'm thinking the video function will get a lot of use
