Wow, you have my sympathy.

I curse the animal that stole your watch!

The sad thing is, if Spanish police are anything like mine, you don't have much hope at getting your watch back. You might just drive youself crazy filling out reports and accusing friends and associates.

Education isn't cheap; I think I'll go home and lock up my watch I left out.

Good luck and I hope your watch turns up.

Hope it all rights itself before noon tomorrow. It would have been so easy to get the police involved immediately, however, you'll probably get more of their attention if you can show that you have made efforts to resolve before getting them involved (if necessary). Look forward to a happy post tomorrow!

If you have it as a scheduled item, Insurance will pay. Whatever you do ...do not simulate a break in. That is fraud. Two wrongs do not make a right. Theft is theft. Not all thefts occur because of a break in. If you need insurance claim help PM me.

Just a small bone to pick with your quote, as I have elsewhere posted I have held every claims position from adjuster to VP. Not ALL adjusters will minimize payouts. In fact in my wifes Diamond ring damage they paid in full and returned the ring and took no salvage. Likewise not all agents will fight for their customers for fear of losing the market.

Otherwise you are right on target.

Guys, let's focus on the unfortunate issue at hand.

Tristan, you're trice (get it) the man I am, since patience is a virtue. I would have blown a gasket.

Definitely!
I don't have my watches locked in a safe, but this story really makes my hairs stand up... Currently looking online for a "hotel room type" safe...

He , Thanks for the many supporting posts and kind words . The thing is I just got into an argument with my wife about all this ... she wanted me to go to the police on tuesday evening when I started to wonder where my Daytona was . She was the one that deducted the obvious right away . She also blames me to let things like that linger everywhere ( Ok, she has warned me several times , about leaving the car unlocked , wallet and watches in the open ect.. ) Guess she is right . Bastard day , I'm off to bed and tomorrow we will all go to the main police station to see the " judiciaria " branch . That will be fun too !

The girl will be fortunate Spain is a developed country. I know some countries, they chop your arms off or execute you for stealing. I'm sure the theft rate would drop dramatically if our countries allowed that.

I know what your saying... My wife would probably react the same way. I think you are doing the right thing here. You are obviously a good-hearted person, who wants to give your friends son a second chance of making things right.

Hope he's up to it.

IF i had a son who was involved in a theft of my friend's property, I would be the one more 'livid' with my son and his friend's action.

i would also feel terrible beyond words to my friend for problem caused and trust misplaced.

Since it appears that the boy's father is taking responsibile action, I'd wait to get the police involved (since the laws differ by region).

Hoping for the best resolution possible !

A bit harsh... I wouldn't care to live in such a world. A Rolex is after all "just a watch".
