The polar is special, no doubt about it. I wanted it forever but when I finally had it on my wrist I felt dead inside. The black is the counter-intuitive choice as evidenced by the responses here but it is so under the radar and the new 226570 pops with orange and white and silver on deep black. In a way it’s my least Rolex-like Rolex. This is why I’m excited to pick it up almost every day.

Yeah, it didn’t bother me, either. Functionality over form is king for me…. He says wearing 1675 because it’s prettier than the 116710…

Changing my vote. As a daily wearer, the black is a better choice. White is great for pleasure use.

If we are are talking 1655.. well of course I choose black.
If we are talking the older 16570, I choose white.
If we are talking the newer 216750/226570, I choose black.

The orange hand clashes with the white dial on the newer references IMO.

Black is my vote. Got a new polar last year but just didn’t bond with it.

I have the Polar version of the 16750. It stands out from the other watches in my collection. I have a Champagne Dial, Black Dial, Gray Dial, Casio Dial and the Polar. It is my favorite daily wear watch.

I owned the 226570 in White - solid it to get the latest version in Black, if you look at them both together decision becomes easy, Black every time.

Similar here. I started with the Black 216570 and wore it daily for several years. Waited for an update before adding a Polar 226570, and have worn it daily since.

If I could only have one watch it would be an Explorer II Black dial 226570. I’m not sure if I like the larger or smaller bracelet but I love the 226570’s weekend proof power reserve and it’s slightly refined case.

The Polar dial is awesome too and I like that they are less commonly encountered. If there could be only one watch however, it would be a black dial Explorer II.

Good thinking. Most of us have black dials already, the white is a great addition to a collection. Black is the best ‘one and done’ IMO.

Love this thread, I learned a lot. I am currently waiting on the call for the Polar since 3,5 months. My AD estimated a 6 months in total. I can’t wait to add the Polar to my modest collection.

Tried polar, previous gen, it left quite an underwhelming feel to it. One of those watches that look better on photos and macro then in real life. Decided for the black one in the end.

Black 216570. Found that it is the one I can’t do without. Mine is extremely accurate. Love it

I was always going to prefer the white dial but reading through the thread, it's more of the black dial now as a daily wearer.

I like the Polar since it's the dial that first comes to mind (for me) when I think of an Explorer II. Good luck in your choice!

Both equal for me. Owned a Polar for 8 years in the past. Black is more subtle imo
