Without going off topic, in that particular thread I told someone their approach was unethical (very politely) and a few members retorted (very politely) that I was talking rubbish. That is fine, it is freedom of speech.

All I am saying is everyone should be allowed to have their say and the OP is entitled to say there are too many selfies. I actually disagree with him but that is neither here nor there.

Regards

Mick

Sorry, but this is not being "very polite" Mick.

Second to owning and physically wearing one. On the wrist/in the environment pics are a most enjoyable part of the hobby. Not to mention ultimately useful in determining whether a watch is for you. God please have mercy on the OP, who will surely continue to be bombarded with the most ridiculous watch combo pics imaginable.

Blunt yes, just to get the message across but certainly not impolite and I got a bit worse back and I don't think I walked into the corner of a room and cried.

I realise that I may be out of tune with your forum, so I will call it quits.

I have found the forum very informative but obviously my approach has offended, so it is best I leave and wish you well for the future.

You know, ironically, because of this useless thread, the pics, topic tangents and trolling is off the metaphorical charts! Its anarchy, I tell ya!

Here's the thing. A lot of people could compose their watch pics better, which would make them more interesting. Just a few simple tips. In a nutshell: ultra close up: off the wrist. For on-wrist shots, back up and show the watch "in context".

Super close ups on the wrist are ugly. You're just staring at someone's body hair and freckles. It's gross, and it doesn't tell you anything about what the watch actually looks like on your arm. It's just a close up of skin and hair.

A close-up shot, to show the details of the watch, should ideally should have the watch off the wrist, posed with one or two other objects that complement the color of he watch and give the viewer a sense of size.

Of course people want to see what the watch looks like on your wrist. But back up! Take those pics in a mirror, or at least pull the camera back. Show more of your arm and let us see how the watch looks in the context of clothing. Model it. Place your arm on a desk or a table with other objects. Or stand up and take the pic from farther away. You don't have to show your face, but show the watch as it exists in context.

Just my $.02 for how to make watch photos more pleasant and interesting.

So I'm pretty new to this forum, but have really enjoyed the positive nature of all involved.

I find everyone's willingness to share their knowledge and opinions really helpful and because of that, find myself on here multiple times per day. This thread however has taken on a negative tone as everyone seems to be piling on.

I humbly suggest we act civil, don't pile on and don't chase people away.

Totally agree with everyone... Not only that butt it is cheeky of the OP to post this with an average of 1 post/yr for which he is to be congratulated for achieving.

In the end, it's about our love for Rolex watches. That's why we're here at this forum.

If you don't like the photos people are posting, don't look at 'em.
If you think the photos that we take are boring or unprofessional, show us better photos.

Since this thread has gone to hell anyway, that green strap on the PP is sick.
