I read that even though the lug width on the Explorer II is 22mm (21 on the 2020 Sub) the bracelet tapers down to the same width of 17mm.
I saving for my first Rolex and its between the 124060 or the 226570 with black dial. My preference is for the Explorer II but the clasp is a dealbreaker so I'm thinking of asking my local AD of sourcing a Glidelock for me.
Hmmm... interesting. You are correct that I measured 17mm for the bracelet at the clasp of the 226570. I have both watches discussed and certainly love playing with bracelets. I'll try this out tonight and will report back what I find, with pictures.

Be forewarned though - I don't think your AD will sell you a Glidelock clasp. Rolex is very particular about just selling parts. You can replace parts, but Rolex or the AD will keep the old ones. There are aftermarket Glidelock copies of the older, smaller design, but they are crap quality IMHO.

Whelp... nice thought, but it's not going to work. The 124060 bracelet links are actually 16.5mm wide at the clasp while the 226570 links are 17.0 mm wide at the clasp. So, yes the 22mm bracelet does not taper to the same width as the 21mm bracelet. Not a big surprise there. The inside section of the link on the Explorer II bracelet that needs to fit inside of the Sub clasp link has a 0.3mm interference fit. I actually removed the screws and tested it to verify what my digital calipers were telling me. You can't use the Sub Glidelock clasp on the Exp II bracelet without filing down the Exp II links to fit. Now the 43mm Sea-Dweller has a 22mm bracelet and I wonder if the Glidelock clasp from that would work. Unfortunately I do not have one to test... yet, maybe someday!

Great purchase mate, I picked up my black dial 226570 2 days ago. I’m also looking into glide lock options for the bracelet. I think it will need to be a DSSD clasp.

That Black dial with the extended GMT hand in orange looks absolutely brilliant!
I have the white Explorer II, but the new Black dial is super tempting.

The hour, minute and second hands looked different than picture from Rolex website. They suppose to be in 18ct white gold.

Did you find a Glidelock clasp that’s good with the new EXP II ? I have the 226570 white dial.

I would like to change the clasp

I have one on the way, should hopefully get here this week, I’ll report back one I’ve fitted it. From everything I can gauge though, you need to get a genuine/aftermarket clasp from a SD43. I don’t think anything else will fit.

I don’t think they increased bracelet size vs 21 version. It already had wider bracelet.

The same thing happened to me, my AD calls me to check the Explorer II Polar, and the rest is history.
I have to said pictures really don't make justice to this watch, in person, this is a very gorgeous watch. If you have the wrist size this is a no brainer. Congratulations on your new watch.
