Simple answer: If you're not comfortable with the breed or unsure of the breed, don't keep such a dog in your home. Go with a breed you are comfortable with.

Well, Henry, the fact that you are misinformed has a lot to do with your skewed perspective. Sorry to be so blunt, but it's the truth.

Edit: And I'm speaking about pit bulls only. They are what I have experience with.

My wife had surgery and the surgeon put three probes in her eye, laser, vacuum, and light. She never once complained.

No salmon here in the prairies, or the mountains around us either. But if there was salmon around, I would fish for it and eat it as sashimi. Mmmmm!

LOL!! I can picture you with the grizzlies waiting at the very top of the waterfall as the salmon swim up the stream and then get nabbed by the bears in mid-air.

You'd need to be real quick, Ashley, to grab the fattest ones!!

Not at all. We were getting some smoked Salmon at a processing center and I saw the salmon jerky. Being someone who LOVES jerky, I was thinking about it and the guy said I should try a sample before buying. Nasty.

Call me the animal whisperer! I would love to go fishing with some bears As long as I didn't get between a mother and her young, I think I would be okay. When I was out in the mountains last October with Aadil, a young black bear wandered into our resort area and I got out of the hotsprings and followed the bear, until the damn security guard made me leave

People must be held accountable for their pets. If it is not a pet then it is a stray and should be dealt with accordingly. It also is not the owner who causes vicious dogs although they may contribute to their behavior. I have personal experience with a 13 year pet dog that I loved like a child with no aggression towards humans until one day she bit my daughter. Eight surgeries and more to go. Whose fault was it? Mine I allowed my child to be around my dog, period. I still have dogs and a clearer understanding of them. They are ANIMALS and do not have the reasoning abilities we do. Therefore if you want a pit-bull, lion or pit viper, so be it as long as it does not affect others rights to live without the threat of harm. If it does harm a human destruction of that animal is necessary and you are responsible. In conclusion you are responsible to protect yourself and others from pit-bulls if you own them and should be on your toes when around wild animals of any kind.

This comment should not be limited to PITBULLS should it Last I checked they are not the only dogs that are biteing and or people aggresive
this is where the problem is for me.. PITBULLS get all of the media attention when there are a ton of Shepard, Rottie and other types of dog that attack people all the time..
I am in peoples homes all the time for work personaly I have only been bitten twice luckly for me both times the dog could only reach my ankles..
The dogs where obviously people aggresive but not large enough to inflict damage to a grown man/woman/child.. But if that same ankle bitter bit a infant I am sure they could inflict damage SHOULD THEY BE LAYED DOWN????? Is it the dogs fault ?? Or poor owenership..

Again if a person dose not want to put the energy into a dog they deserve anything could happen.. I stand by my comment do not get a dog without knowing what they need.. Do research Pitbull's and American Bulldogs can be the worlds greatest pets but you cant be somebody that wants to sit on the couch all day and not take them on long walks and stimulate there working dog tendacies and expect them to be content..
People need to respect the breed they own and this is not limited to Pitbulls.

Ridiculous.

I agree....if there are no pitbulls then cruel, greedy people will find something else to fight. There are cockfights, fight clubs of mentally challenged people and all sorts of other cruel types of fighting....I hear they are fighting canaries and finches even in some places.

Just crazy, its the people not whatever creature they choose to fight.

Well, before this thread gets locked, I might as well add to it lol
My cousin owns a Pit-bull. She is the most friendliest dog you'd ever meet. The owner before my cousin mistreated her (burned her with cigarettes), and when the police came to arrest the owner (on other charges) they had to take the dog as well. Instead of bringing the dog to the pound, the police gave it to my cousin (the cop is a very close friend of his). This pit. is now 6 years old, and is as lovable as can be. At first she didn't trust anyone (for obvious reasons), but that just goes to show you, if the owner treats a dog (ANY dog) like garbage, the outcome will be sometimes deadly.
