I find the 41mm 15400 to be near the max of an acceptable size for my wrist. I can pull it off but the 39mm would look much more elegant. Another benefit is the thinness which allows for it to fit under nearly any shirt. Something that can be a problem with some sports Rolex models. IMO it looks terrible when I see someone with a watch that won't slide under the cuff.
Not many issues reported on the AP forum, more ROOs recently, and even if so you have 5 years now, plus AP customer service is much better and politer than Rolex's.

BLRO every time. I detest AP watches, and the GMT2 BLRO is my grail watch so I may not be the best barometer in this case.

Which one gets your blood pressure rising? For me it would be the BLRO, but it isn't my money.

15202

15202 is an iconic watch, unique movement. The BLRO is nothing more than a tarted up ss GMTII in wg. You’re getting the same movement as any of the ss models, nothing unique, just wg.

BLRO is the winner between these two as the AP doesn't excite me much. I think the Rolex is a perfect tribute to the original GMT.

i think the Rolex is a much nicer looking watch, i don't know the value of the other watch, but i don't like it, i think it s ugly.
don t think i would wear it if you gave it to me. sorry don t mean to offend anyone.
it s just my taste...too square ..i am just talking about looks, as i don't know what s inside the case.
sorry just my opinion...but do what right for you, and get the one yo couldn't live without.

Own a blro.

They are vastly different watches.

What would you enjoy more? The beauty of the materials- wg and bezel of blro vs enjoying the beauty of the craftsmanship of the ap- the movement finishing, polishing of the case & bracelet?

Forget those two. Go BLNR! No regrets for sure.

Have owned both, I now only own the BLRO. It was an easy decision. One is a PM, multiple complication, robust, go anywhere, do anything classsic. The other is a classic, though it is not robust (one repair under warranty, another a year after the warranty expired), has average heft, no screw down crown or seconds hand, and a bezel that is easy to scratch. I am still an AP owner, but this is definitely not the one to own in my opinion.

I'd try for a 16710 and a perhaps a pre-owned royal oak, maybe like a 15300, the total of which should be in that same ball park.

For me it is the BLRO hands down. The look of the BLRO is strong and I prefer the way Rolex wears as opposed to AP.

You asked on a Rolex forum and nearly half voted against the Rolex. That is saying something. The AP by a mile.

Interestingly enough, in this thread people were commenting on the bad resale value of the BLRO and the difficulty in moving it:

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=569718

Whereas the 15202 has been absolutely solid in value retention and is now a hard watch to source from boutiques, let alone ADs.

I had a chance to check out the BLRO again this weekend and the bezel colour is a quite underwhelming. It looks washed out and too pasty, not the deep, rich colours you see on the Bluesy or BLNR for instance.

IMO you don’t want the bezel colors to be too bright either. The WG is a bit of understatement for the GMT and with bright colors the watch would look kinda cheap.
I personally like them exactly as they are. Easier to match with various clothing styles too.

Bought mine BNIB from here.
Took an absolute bath on depreciation so far.
But I still love the BLRO.
If we're talking solely from an investment perspective, I should have gotten a 5711 2yrs ago. I remember seeing them at DavidSW's website when I was shopping back then.

Here's another way of looking at it the depreciation from that thread.
I've worn it daily for the past 2yrs
If I sold it for $16K right now, it turns out that depreciation will have cost me $14.55 a day to have the blro on my wrist.
At 5yrs, it's $6.34/day to have it on my wrist.
There are things that drop in value far worse than that.

And if Rolex releases a SS Pepsi with brighter colors, the WG model will be an instant collectable due to it's rarity. It will become the PN of the modern Rolexes- initially hated but will become a historic timepiece worth millions! And then I'll be laughing all the way to the bank! I can see the Hodinkee headline now- Famous "TRF" Rolex 116719 BLRO sells for $10.2 million at auction. My wife will apologize for doubting my WIS-investing acumen and will buy a YG DD40 for me with the phrase "You're always right my love" engraved on the back.

That's what I tell myself to make me feel better about the Pepsi's depreciation. Seriously.

Very good real life information. This is important to understand. In Switzerland at least AP and PP are not used that much as an allday everyday watch, because they are known as haute horlogerie pieces. It means they are art. Casio G Shock, Rolex and haute horlogerie are all different ways to enjoy a watch.
