I think all the marketing and flooding of the market by TAG has kinda given it the negative impression many ppl are showing...its really a pretty decent watch to own...the new Grand Carreras and other new Carrera models, Monaco and the new 500m diver are superb watches...actually their new diver looks great in real, and I would love to get the quartz version for its tremendous ruggedness and low price...the only problem I see with the TAG is that they are priced very close to Omegas and surely Omega is too respected in horological circels so yes, may be TAG gets a tough competition by purists...but TAG is generally a very good starting point for high end swiss watches
oh and pre-TAG days for Heuer are legendary indeed...true Classics, like Al shared...Al's is a killer...great work Al |

revisiting this: there's something deceptive about tag(s) - their beauty is only skin deep. remember the little debacle where they claimed a seiko movement was their own 'in-house' creation (i think i've got the gist of it), and now standing behind their 'man' (tiger). kinda' icky to me - but your mileage may vary.

Yes I would and in fact do! TAG Heuer Formula 1 Grande Date Chronograph INDY 500. This is a great watch. Swiss Ronda 5040B movement. Paid $1450 at my AD. Still wear my Submariner also.

I would, and have.
Thing is, among non WIS person on the street, a Tag is a very desirable watch, my opinion is that at some stage, some up him self WIS decided to have a spout off against Tag, and unfortunately among the forums it has stuck. Ask in the centre of most cities in the UK what the top watch is, I bet Tag wouldn't come far behind Rolex, depending on the age group surveyed. I like them.

Most definitely! I had a Tag Pro Chronograph that I loved. I also have a strong desire to get the Aquagraph. Those things are like tanks and they look great on a rubber strap. Depending on where you go you can get pretty substantial discounts on new retail with Tag. Good luck in your decision.

curious, some have hinted that they dont like TAG b/c of the marketing...
since TAG took over Heuer, or in general? Interesting, b/c on the Omega forum, there seems to be a "we coulda been a contender" thread about how Omega could be perceived as being #1 in the way Rolex is, but Rolex out-marketed Omega and passed them by. interesting, someone very cleverly described Rolex's ads as "Gee, if I had this watch, I could find buried treasure. If I had this watch, I could climb Everest".... its funny what ads will do to people. for my part, rabid TAG fan, and I wretch at the idea of Leo or any NASCAR driver endorsing the same watch as Steve McQueen or Senna. My 4 cents.. Cheers |

I don't like the design on most TAG's, but would definitely wear a Blue Monaco Chrono. A real beauty!

Tag watches are nice, but they have to be half retail to have any chance of getting any value back on them in the future.
People love selling you a tag, but when YOU need to sell it no-one is interested! Trust me, Ive been there with TAGs, so now its Rolex all the way, cost more, but you can get close to your money back if youre smart. |

I have bought many Tags, but my favorite was the Carrera Chrono Legend. I never seem to hold on to them for more than a couple months though.

Why not? If you like the watch, wear it. I have two Tags and my fav. is the Link Calibre S (see the pics in my Sig. It's the middle one) A fantanstic watch which I plan on keeping AND wearing.
It's getting ignored atm though as I'm still in the honeymoon period with my new GMT IIc |

Not familiar with Tags but, here's a question. There are nice vintage Heuers out there. What was a "Tag" before the merger??? Never heard of one.
