JJ, as my 'Rolex collection' consists of one Sub ND, I am often amazed by the collections on this forum. Ignoring any health or financial issues, I really don't understand the point of owning multiple rolexes - unless from a collectors point of view - as a hobby (albeit an expensive one!).

I would have a hard time deciding between 2 Rolex, let alone four!
Anyways, I just want to encourage your downsizing to the 2 exceptional, but different watches.

Sometimes letting go of 'things' gives an added bit of freedom.

I have one Rolex (Submariner) and two Omegas (Seamaster 300M and Seamaster PO 42mm). I have considered trading in my two Omegas for a second rolex (a GMT-IIc) and sticking with just the two watches. My theory is this will allow me choice but not too much choice over what watch to wear and it will also reduce service costs only having the two - plus I will have one to wear while the other is away for servicing etc. etc.

While I am relatively well paid I am certainly not rich or wealthy so being realistic about what I can afford is important. I would feel more comfortable with just two watches - and lets face it if you have two classic watches like the Sub and the GMT you can't go far wrong!

Well, Anders...........all that glitters is not gold!!

I actually wear dentures and in recent months, I snapped off one of my front incisors and then had to have dental implants put on both sides. Each implant cost NZ$1500 + another grand for a new upper denture with a new set of 6 "false" teeth..............plus other dental procedures totalling over 4 grand.

Sheesh..........should have become a dentist!!

Anyway, thanks for all your replies, guys. I know it's always so much harder to sell than to buy...............but I've set the ball rolling, starting with the Exp-II and shall then take it from there.

Cheers - JJ

What ever watch you don't want, feel free to send to me. I will give it a good home and send it back when you want it again.

No, Patrick............prefer to do it locally through an antique dealer friend of mine who deals in used Rolexes. I've been dealing with him for years and I have to save myself the hassels of shipping and dollar conversions.

I think there is some value to trimming a collection from time to time. I do it every few years, and enjoy concentrating my efforts on one or two *special* watches, and then building the collection again in the future.

Now that I have FOUR, I find myself perpetually confused as to which one to wear and which one NOT to wear.

To be honest, the SS/Pt. YM and Sub-date are now getting the maximum wrist time. The Exp-II and TT GMT-IIC hardly any time at all.............the latter still being quite uncomfortable with that silly Easy Link system which realy doesn't work at all!!

Besides............I feel that money in the bank makes more sense. Let's see!!

You're right easier to buy than to let go but you made the wise decision. I got 2: sub date and gmt iic and perhaps will hang on there for many years to come. Good luck JJ!

I say go for it. Simpler, IMO, is better and having a little extra $$ in the bank is always a good policy.

I just did the same thing, though I now have the SD and an Omega PO that get the wrist time (I also kept a Seiko diver I use as a "beater"). Sold another Rolex and several other watches and brought it down to 3. Much more manageable and less decision making.

Sorry to hear mate! Teeth and eyes are more important than two watches. You'd scratch them terribly if you had to chew with them

you should start a JJ's Teeth Pledge website. I'd give you a few quid and I'm sure other members would as well

JJ

I would just sell the TT GMT and explorer II and buy a bluesy

Then I would have three of the best watches ever made plus some cash in the bank

In this respect, the GLIDELOCK System makes much more sense.

I agree with you about the easy link 100%. Additionally, adjusting the micro pin is a royal pain. Fortunately, I was able to adjust it so that it feels comfortable enough without the need of the 1/2 link which is useless- too big. The glide lock does make much more sense.

I sold off most of my collection and I'm down to the GMT IIC and the Sub Date, "Z" series. The other 5 watches that I have left are inexpensive beaters.

Good luck with your decision. It's a tough one but one I can understand. One dental implant equals a Rolex. Right now, I have three Rolexes in my mouth.

Just saw this post. That's pretty reasonable for an implant. Here in my neck of the woods, a complete implant with crown is between $4,000 and $5,000.

I know exactly what you are going for, JJ....

You want to reduce to two only, take that cash and re-invest it for a brandnew, beautiful, stunning 116610LN!

Without easy link, but with glidelock....
Good decision, waiting for the pics ......
