If you can afford one,

get it! Like it's been said before, there is no substitute.

You MUST do your homework and, not unlike watches, you have to find a reputable dealer/shop to buy from or to conduct the PPI.

I was lucky to find a 2004 911 40 Anniversary Edition in pristine condition and form a guy who took extremely good care of it.

If you perform regular maintenance on it and are aware of what you're doing, you should have no problems with it. A lot of people are frightened of the IMS/RMS issues on the 996s. As long as you do your part, you'll be ok.

Good luck with your decision and I hope to see pics of your Porsche/Rolex combo soon.

Finally got them together for pics....

I think these compliment each other fairly well.
This post should probably go to the "does your watch match your car" thread.

When I got it liscensed I thought about requesting plates that read:

BLKNTAN

But that's just asking to do the stupid human tricks at the sobriety check points they have in my area.

Best,
Mike

Love your photos guys!

I am on the hunt for something in my budget which will be a 2002 or 2003 911 (non turbo...I'd crash) coupe.

Soon, it will me mine but for now I will just .

Go for a 996 Turbo, lots of bang for your buck. Prices have come down recentley, go for a manual gearbox.

Icon14 New 991 in Da House...

My new 2012 911 (New body 991) has finally arrived. One of only a few in Texas. LOVE this car over my 2011 997. Amazing ride, handling and quiet on the inside (unless you turn on Sport, which makes it nice a 'sporty' sounding inside). Incredible car!

Got PDK--the new shifters in the wheel are awesome. Tons of fun and still can do my daily driving.

As requested...

Interior is 99% new. I love the NAV multifuntion in the dash console. They have taken care of every complaint I had with my 997. Inside and out it's really the perfect sports car for me.
