How to get to try on blue Nautilus?

Diamond District. Some horror stories to be found on the web about this store. Might be fine, but for a purchase of this magnitude, I wouldn't trust it. |

That watch is certainly genuine. Why not pop down there and have a look if its not too far.

All lighting and many shades depending on light. As for trying one on...Lots of luck as they are impossible to find and I know of only one AD that has one and they told me they are lucky to get one a year and wait is 17 months plus. Not an easy find and very sought after! I called pretty much every AD in US also. Cheers,

I faced the same decision and had the same problem a couple of months ago. I live in the NYC area and tried on a 5712 at Tiffany's that came in for another customer. I couldn't find a 5711 anywhere and heard the usual story of 6+ month waits. I went out of town for Thanksgiving and the AD there somehow had a 5711 blue, 5712, and a 5146 creme that I was also considering. I quickly decided the 5146 didn't do it for me but I agonized over the 5712 vs. 5711, trying on both back and forth for a couple of hours spread over 2 days, before ultimately choosing the 5711.
A few things to address some of the questions you have raised and general thoughts that may help. -I believe the color of the dials are the same, but that the 5711 "pops" more because the face is much more open. As a result, I think the 5711 also demonstrates the much talked about "chameleon-effect" to a greater extent in different angles/lights. After owning the watch for nearly 3 months I still just stare it several times a day while rotating my wrist into different positions -The 5712 face is more interesting when viewed more closely given the complications imo, but the 5711 is more striking from a distance since the color stands out more. However, while beautiful, I did not find the complications on the 5712 particularly useful for me. I also found the date pointer on the 5712 hard to read quickly vs. the digital date on the 5711. -The movement of the 5712 with the micro-rotor, is more interesting imo than the 324 in the 5711 - I think the 5712 is a little more versatile, dressing up with a suit a bit better than the 5711. I think this is because the 5711 is, to me, a little sportier/flashier. I'm so neurotic, that for one AD visit I wore casual clothes and the next day wore a suit for the sole purpose of seeing how the two watches compared with different outfits. -It's obviously personal taste, but the face of the 5711+digital date won out for me. -I got no discount on mine and based on folks I have talked to, that is typical on a 5711 if purchased from an AD. They did ship to NY at their cost and they threw in a nice leather wolf winder. I think you can get 10-15% off on the 5712 from certain ADs, but many ADs will not discount on that model either. Hope this is helpful. Good luck! |

It would be great if you could try it on resized to your wrist . Like a test drive. It costs as much as a car, after all!

Just got mine today from my favorite Patek AD! It truly is an amazing watch and the blue is something special especially in the light. It makes a great pair with my AP Jumbo 15202. Thanks Mr. Genta!!

I need that kind of relationship with my local Patek AD. :P Then again, my local Patek AD's next three 5711s are already sold, and they're not even accepting deposits because they don't know when, or even if, they can get another. And there is no such thing as a discount -- they'll charge you MSRP if they like you, or more if they don't. |

If "There can be only one", Which do you choose: 15202 or 5711?

Right now slight edge to AP as I chose it initially over the 5711. Glad I don't have to make that choice though my friend!

Having seen the 5711 and 12 side by side in the same light I believe they are definitely the same color. The 5726 otoh, is definitely more of a blue-grey than a blue. One other difference in case it matters is that the 5711 rotor is quite loud while the 5712 is very quiet. Good luck tracking down a 5711 to try. |
