It's funny...forget what watch someones wearing..Nowadays I can't past some guy wear shorts and flip flops in a nightclub on a Sat night! I think fashion has went out the window so your watch is sort irrelevant..lol

Wear whatever you want..That's what everyone else is doing.

Or in a nice restaurant; I totally agree...

I myself try to maintain a youthful more renewable vibe and wear an understated g-shock periodically. Seems to go well when ordering free range chicken and ramps (wild leaks you oldies): .
That understated G-Shock looks suspiciously like an ice cream truck.

I've somewhat gone through the same predicament whilst considering whether to buy a Rolex (I'm 28). I've now decided too take the plunge having realised there are 3 camps of people:

* those who won't recognise - no issue
* those who recognise and appreciate a good watch for being a good watch - no issue
* those who recognise and draw the wrong conclusions - f*ck 'em!

I have done the same thing as the OP. Never missed the Panerai and sold it off. The Rolex comes off the wrist whenever I attend events where I would rather fly under the radar.

Nope..I always feel awesome whatever's on my wrist, be it Rolex or Timex. I wear the watch...The watch doesn't wear me.

That decision has to be right for you. In my opinion as a successful Financial Advisor that I became over the last 15 years, I personally earned the money to buy my first Rolex (it was not a gift given to me) and I definitely earned the right to wear my BLNR, I also can tell you every day I put it on I think of all the years and the work it took to get me to the point I am now. It was a reward to myself for "finally making it". Don't worry about what others think, life is short work and play hard ! Buy the best, cry once !

To each his own but I don't see anything wrong with you wearing a Rolex. Spending this kind of money on a timepiece, I wear mine all the time to get my money's worth and for the enjoyment I get out of it. I would either wear your stunning watches or sell them and use the funds for something you enjoy, life is short!

I have had a rolex since I was 18 and couldn't be happier i have never used any other brand since. I haven't noticed a lot of people staring at my wrist or ask me questions but I don't care what they say it is comfortable to me and that's all that matters. If you're comfortable and happy on your own accord then that's fine but if you changed to not draw attention to yourself then that's a different story

When my kids, teenage daughters, start worrying about what their clothes say about them, I tell them I have four little words of truth that will change their lives forever if they will just try and understand. "I know, dad...I know. No one really cares." It's just a watch

I have been wearing a Rolex since a very young age and have never felt uncomfortable wearing a nice watch around people from all walks of life.

I feel you not wanting to wear them is more about you not being comfortable with wearing them than it has to do with them noticing. Because in all honestly people usually don't notice or judge people based on their wrist. They judge you for how you carry yourself and treat others.

I thought I might have something to add to this thread, but I don't.

It's just a watch. Wear it if you want to. Or don't wear it. But whatever you decide to do, don't over-analyze your choice because - it's just a watch.

As much as I love nice watches, as a young man (26) I don't think I was ever entirely comfortable with what they said about me. If I'm honest I always felt a little bit uncomfortable when people noticed my wrist, especially young people.

The g-shock just feels very right at this point in my life.

I will definitely be keeping my nice watches, perhaps things will change at some point in the future.

Does anyone else share the experience of feeling uncomfortable in some company with a rolex on the wrist?
You should try non-popular but high quality watch brands then your issue woud be resolved.

I felt the same when I had my two tone white dial Yachtmaster, as I was 27 and was simply self conscious in meetings when that huge gold bezel popped out of my cuff, but no one really noticed it. I traded it for a Milgauss GV which I still have and love, and is a bit more understated. I'm approaching 30 in September and will likely to back to a two tone model, Datejust II slate dial as I miss some gold in my life. My advice is to keep in mind that the average person never notices your wristwatch nor knows it's true value, nor do they really know your age.

I wear what I like and I'm not too concerned what people around me think. They very rarely notice it anyways. Too each his own.
