Start hanging the liner (shallow end first) and work it into the corners. More scrapping, more hanging, more vacuuming, more hanging and before you know it the liner is sitting in place. Now for some big time suction. This baby pulls out a lot of air. Magically the liner sits down in place. Let the water works begin. Need to get the level up to the black tape line. Should take between 18 to 20 hours. Will see what the morning brings. Getting closer to a swim.

It's interesting to see the construction technique used in the USA on your pool; here in Puerto Rico permanent pools are tipically fully made in concrete and plastered with marble instead of using a liner like in yours. Our pool had the marble finish in pretty bad (stained, some cracks etc) conditions when we purchased our house:

The remodeling involved chipping some of the old plaster to adhere the new marmolized substract into the whole interior:

Then plaster the whole interior with new marmolized substract:

Is this style of work done also in the states?

Plaster/Gunnite is the common way for in ground pools in the US.

Thanks! The plastering product used on mine is from Diamond Brite (white Portland cement with colored quartz aggregates); color is called blue quartz (quite popular here)

Glad you're enjoying it. The installer was meticulous. Not a ripple anywhere and every corner is squared up perfectly.

Day 12 Progress Report

This day reminds me of another song. Spinning Wheels by Chicago. My water meter wheel is spinning so hard even I'm getting dizzy. Couple of quick pictures of the results so far.

First pic is after 12 hours constant running all night long. Not sure we're making any progress. May have to run a second hose

Second and third pics are after 24 hours. Finally coming close to the side walls and creeping into the shallow end. Still need to get to the black line. Likely another overnight run.

Getting dizzy again. Got to sit down ........

Dang Rick - that is a HUGE improvement.

So, why a vinyl liner instead of marble plaster or gunnite? Is it a crack preventive issue or dictated by the type of wall construction?

You would only use gunnite or marbelite on a concrete pool, where the concrete walls and floor are several inches to a foot thick.

Day 13 Progress Report

Finally after 36 hours running a hose the water level gets to the point where they can cut out the returns, lights, skimmer & remove the vacuum. Plumbing, salt system and electrical work gets done. Light test is a thumbs up. Hose still running. Should finally be full in the morning. A couple of bad shot tonight with the new lights. Almost done now.
