Based on your collection I would go DD. Love mine.

Platonas cool but you already have two daytonas in your collection. I think the DD40 would add more variety. No bad options here though...

I’ve been pondering and reading
Thank you all for the great input!
I really don’t want to get rid of any of my current watches (love both Daytona’s)
And even though I’m a little leaning towards the platona however as many of you have pointed out, it would be very redundant having three Daytona’s

I will go with the DD which is a very different watch from anything else I have!

My AD doesn’t have it currently in stock but will be ordering it for me!
Ice blue with Roman is what I’m leaning towards

Thank you all for great advice and input!

I wonder if anyone has ever done a platinum bezel swap onto a WG DD40 to get the fluted bezel but light blue dial

Yes I did
I was actually sold on the platona until I tried the DD on and it became a tie for me! But with two ss Daytona’s and no DD it makes more sense to go with the DD

Again, another situation where the wonderful members here have been super helpful!!

I think all things Daytona are typically more popular and hold their value better! That said, I like them both a lot. The DD seems to be considerably cheaper if that matters to you.

For the money you are going to spend, I strongly consider a pair of Zenith Daytonas or a Daytona 6265 instead.

If you want to keep wearing the SS Daytona's it's a good idea to get the DD; I find my Platona to be very selfish for wrist time!!! On the other hand you might find a good return on the two SS Daytonas when you have no more use for them!!!

Are you going to wear it not than one day in a row? Platona is time only, set the time and go. Even with double quick set the DD takes longer to be ready to wear.

The DD is beautiful but I do not like that it only comes in smooth bezel. I would get the platona and a YG DD down the road. Yes you have 2 SS Daytona’s but you also have 6 other watches that all look similar anyway so why not get the platona?

Tough decision Doc, cant go wrong with either but I would really think it through before committing and handle both in the flesh. As far as holding value I think the Platinum Daytona would be more desirable & easier to move if you wanted to sell it(addressing your initial question), though a 40% haircut on Platinum Daytona & 45%ish on DayDate due to the variables of dials would be safe to assume for both, from retail price. That being said
you seem like a sport watch type of guy from your collection. I also think the SS Daytonas besides being lighter on the wrist have nothing on the Platona once the color combo grows on you. My vote Platona
Good Luck

I Just came back from an AD today and was trying on the Platona and both Plat blue face DD and I really like the Platona but I see a place for the Roman Plat too. As I dont have any Daytonas I’d probably go for Platona but I think the DD fits your collection better. I’m sure you’ll enjoy either way.
