Well not as "fun" as I imagined but the OP did that himself. Not really from a wall or door jamb. That's one example I just don't rememberer many claiming they are "fragile" from normal use.

Seems like maybe it was still too shiny and new and you felt subconscious. In Europe maybe the threat of theft is higher but this time of year how would anyone know what you have on your wrist unless you are purposefully trying to show it off.

Given that Rolex makes such infinitesimal changes to its watches over the decades and 99.9% of the population can’t tell the difference between older and newer references, I’m going with “no.”

I certainly agree with you, SeaDweller50! My old 14060 (my everyday watch) has been dropped and smashed about all over the world for the last 25+ years, and she's still ticking. Anything but flimsy! That said, the new 6 digits are probably even tougher...but I´ve not had one on my wrist yet nor have I handled one. But the old 5-digits are definitely NOT flimsy in my books! And despite what some might say about the jingly-jangly old 93150 bracelet it has held up all these years with no problems. I love it!

The 1680s I’ve had and 5513s, 94200 Big Blocks were hard as nails. My 16750 is a beast. Tough as nails and no need for ceramic.

Rolex absolutely has strayed from it's roots, not a bad thing but instead of being a great tool watch, they are a great luxury watch that could be used as a tool. Though most owners wont because they want to keep the equity value of their watches high.

If a man makes enough money he could go mountaineering with his explorer and it would do the job just as well as a classic Rolex.
