36mm on 7.5 inch wrist

I always thought this too. Ever since I’ve been on TRF I think it’s been this way.

Anecdotally, it seems like the guys with 7.5” wrists are much more likely to be okay with a 36mm watch than the guys with 6.5” wrists. Of course, I’m sure that’s not always the case, but it sure seems like it.

Isn’t it funny how that happens? Not always the case, like you said, but very common in my experience. I think it’s a compensation thing…

My 116234 fits me like the DD36 Miles Teller is wearing in this thread and I love it….so comfortable on my wrist which is over 7.25”

I have 36 and 40 mm Day-Dates on 7.5 wrist. 36 works just fine; I may even prefer it.

I have a 7" circumference wrist, and I've worn both 36mm and 40mm Day Dates. The 36mm for my wrist is too small in my (and spouse's) opinion. That doesn't mean, however, that 36mm wouldn't work on another person's 7" circumference wrist.

There is more to the suitability than just that number:
1. Body type & size
2. Wrist/arm shape (for ex: is your wrist more "flat" across the top where the case sits, or is it more rounded?)
3. Most importantly, what YOU think looks good on yourself.

7.25 inch wrist here. In my opinion it's primarily lug shape and dial width that affects how a watch will wear. For me, the Explorer 39 mm felt like a horribly bloated misstep, and felt way too big. The 36 mm version is perfect. But I don't mind 40-42 mm dive watches, and I think that's because the dial typically isn't much larger than the dial of a 36 mm watch. I have a Doxa Sub300t which is 42 mm, but the dial is about the same size as the Explorer 36 mm. I find them both to be perfectly sized for me.

the explorer MKII always fit my wrist well, the case size and lugs looked and felt great.
the dial width / design seemed to bee too wide/ big for me and it always felt "too big".
The visual mass looking at the dial was what I objected to when looking at my own wrist at arms length.
The 36mm Expler 124270 dial looks much better to my eye and the smaller case / thinner lug width doesn't bother me at all.

my explorer splits wrist time with a 44mm diver so for me its less about size and more about personal preference / visual harmony.
i just prefer the way the 124270 looks..... the vintage 36mm Explorers do feel too small to me with the 20mm lug width and less contrasty dials.... i never warmed to them on wrist the way i have with the 124270.

my advice it to ignore us all and follow your gut reaction when on wrist..... not all 36mm watches are the same.
