I thought the OP made some good points; though never say never, I suppose. I was surprised by the Sky-Dweller offerings.

Are they beautiful? I find this a strikingly ugly watch, but clearly that is a minority view.

I like skyds depending on the color scheme. But as always to each their own.

SS Sky Dweller really is an amazing watch for only a few more thousand than a TT Datejust! Especially when the full white gold Sky Dweller is over 3X more and looks almost the same!

SS Sub with blue sunburst dial FTW.

I suspect we won't see any new Sub configurations until Rolex puts in the new movement, at which time they will likely redesign the watch. In light of the fact we didn't get a Coke this year, I'd hazard a guess the same thing applies to the GMT line.

I'm pretty sure that people who buy white gold or platinum watches do it for the sake of them self, not for the validation from others.

That being said, if it was 2016 and I had to chose between a white gold skyd or stainless with fluted bezel, I'd still spend the extra for the white gold and enjoy the extra heft.

I must admit that I also contemplated it. Nice complication, accessible price......so I am saying to myself: "would you like it? you travel 4-5 times a month, you like te GMT function and date........and the asnwer is no.
It is a nice watch that I admire but it is not my style. So, I am saying no for now.

Does nothing for me either, I don't think we are in the minority but clearly there are plenty of people that like the sky dweller

I think the sd is certainly unique, perhaps it was not selling well in precious metals and thats the reason it came out in SS this year. Personally Im not a fan, Id rather have GMT II, but to each their own!

I have asked a few Rolex Dealers about the probability of the stainless steel or two tone Sky Dweller. They all unanimously said, no sir.
Well, I think they must also have been perplexed by
Anyway, I'm very happy to see Rolesor in Sky Dweller variants

My wishes came true. I think I'm going to sell a couple of SS and TT Rolex pieces and pick up a steel SKD and call it a day.

Rolex Sky-Dweller will NEVER be in Stainless Steel

Rolex models that come in SS and PM are differentiated by the dial. For example the SKD in PM only comes in specific dial colors that either have Arabic or Roman hour markers. The SS version they released comes with a baton/stick markers. Clearly a deliberate and typical Rolex tactic.

For the untrained eye, a WG and SS can be confused. So although I won't say never, I highly doubt the blue dial / bezel SubC will come out in SS. That is the differentiator!

It seems like the new dials will be available for the PM versions of the Sky-D (but Roman will not be avaiable for SS) as per the below:

WHAT’S NEW ›
› In white Rolesor and yellow Rolesor versions for the first time
› Rectangular index hour markers and longer hands
› Updated middle case on both new versions
The new dials are available for existing versions of the Sky-Dweller in 18 ct gold
› Dials with Roman or Arabic numerals for existing 18 ct gold
versions are not available for the new white Rolesor and yellow Rolesor versions

Yup, but existing colors such as ivory and satin black (on WG Sky-D) are not available on SS

I've always liked the SkyD's, but I just could not justify the price tag associated with them. Way too many great pieces from AP, PP, ALS, or FPJ at that price range. I always said that if they ever make it in SS, I would buy one. AD's told me it will never happen. Surprise!! First on the list at my AD for the BLUE!! Can't wait!
