The speedmaster 321 is arguably better.

If you want a Daytona no Omega, Zenith, VC bla bla bla will scratch the itch.

If you really wanted a BMW M would a Mercedes AMG suffice? Better or not...you don't want (in this example) a MB so I say no you it would not.

Speedmaster. It's timeless, wears better and looks better.

This.

Some of the watches people are suggesting as "better"

Great watches that I'll never sell and that every collection should have but it is no Daytona.

Why can't the "Rolex Haters" say the same about Rolex and get a life?

I really like this one too but not sure I understand how it works. Is it 24 hours one time around the dial? Sorry for dumb questions

Exactly 24 hour dial...takes a couple wears to get use to reading the 24 hour "military" time but then its same as a 12 hour dial.

The story I have read is that in Lt Cmdr Scott Carpenter use to wear a 12 hour version as a Navy Test Pilot but when he was selected as one of the seven astronauts for the Mercury program he contacted Breitling and suggested they make a 24 hour version.

Kind of makes sense...probably hard to tell if its morning or night in Space!

Obviously Speedmaster.

But if I were looking for another chronograph, I’d probably get something from Breitling. Definitely take a long hard look at their website. Multiple models and options that I like a lot.

The envy is real.

And full disclosure I don't even own a Daytona. Its just boring the Rolex bashing/hate...

I'd wear a Panda, but I'd miss the date function at work. I'm going after one of these first. GO Senator Chrono Panoramadatum.

I remember reading that many years ago, in fact it’s how I heard about Breitling. Thanks for the info, I think it’s a really cool watch!!

I really like some of the Daytona configurations, and I’ll own one eventually, but a “flight qualified” Speedmaster will always have a place in my collection.

A lot of amazing options here. I looked at many of these as I did want to add a Chrono to my collection. I would suggest that wrist size has a lot to do with what may appeal to you.
Many of the pieces here just didn’t fit me well, either height or lug to lug.
I did end up with a Daytona at msrp from my AD and size is a huge differentiator in my opinion…

I’d say Speedy or Tudor if you want to stay sub 10k

Vacheron if you want higher $$ amount

The one chrono I have always wanted other than a Daytona is the JLC Deep Sea Chronograph.

I am also a very weird person who feels a chrono always looks at home on a strap.

I’m no fan of the Rolex Daytona for many reasons . I do own an Omega Mark II reissue that I really love . It’s definitely not the next best thing to a Daytona if you desire a Daytona. For me it’s one of my favorite pieces , if you want a Daytona you must do what it takes to acquire one . Nothing is the next best thing .

My other chronographs are not substitutes for my Daytona. I enjoy them just as much.

I like the Daytona but mainly older references. Is anyone slightly annoyed by the misalignment of the sub dials on modern Daytona’s (markers 9 and 3)?

I find it so odd the older references got this right but for some reason Rolex opted for misaligned vertical placement. Makes the dial feel a bit “off”.

If you’re set on a Daytona- there is no substitute. Just my opinion.

Omegas are a dime a dozen these days. No exclusivity at all. When someone can't score a rolex,Ap or PP they then look to omega. If we're being honest that's for a reason
