Once you decide what you like, assuming you care about buying from an AD, start calling around. As has been mentioned on the board, there are some dealers in FL going out of business, and others in regions hit harder by the recession will be more willing to do business on the phone and give a discount than they used to be. I'd skip the big chains, like Tourneau, Jared, Ben Bridge, etc. Smaller, family-owned businesses will be best to deal with.

Like what has been said before.. Go with your Dad to an AD, it will be a bit more special than getting one shipped to you.

You are wearing a TT DJ now, so you either consider a Gold DD or a Black Subby, depending on how much you want to spend. :)

Well I'm a fan of James Bond. And watching Sean Connery and Roger Moore taking a glimpse of their Submariners makes me want a Sub more. Maybe a Non Date Chronometer. Also buying a 007 Nato Strap wouldn't hurt! Quote:

Not sure if you've considered this, but perhaps a Submariner with a serial number that falls in your birth year. I have a 1675 and 1680 that are both circa 1977
Whatever decision you make, I am sure you will be happy with it. Remember to post pics when you get it Cheers, Eric

I think a rolex is not suitable for a 16 yrs old...maybe a 21 but definitely not 16 just too young to have these luxury discretionary items

Get a white dialed milgauss...young, sporty, with a little bit of flare with the orange numerals. Ashton Kuchar wears one and it looks good on him. Nice size case too, almost as thick as a Sea Dweller but perfect for both jeans and a suit.
Cheers buddy good luck and congratulations |

Get the Platium Day-Date. If your father won't buy it for you, move out immediately.

A Rolex is suitable whenever you're mature enough to handle its responsibility. I had my first at 18, and our very own Kyle on TRF had his Explorer aged 14. Age isn't always synonymous with maturity

Black Sub would be a great choice. Rugged yet sporty and classy all rolled into one. Gotta enjoy life if the opportunity is there no matter what age. Congrats buddy!

I think its awesome that your father would consider gifting you a ROLEX for your 16th....but of course, with it comes some responsibility that I'm sure your father would make you aware of.
I'm a cop, so understand where I'm coming from. At your age, people who wouldn't think twice about ripping a ROLEX off the arm of an adult would consider you an easy mark. Considering your location (PR) and I've been there (beautiful place by the way), I think you'd have to seriously consider the locations you frequent when wearing any type of ROLEX. In the criminal world, ROLEX means easy money, even the name ROLEX sends shivers up the legs of bad guys/girls. Think about it this way, when someone sees someone wearing a ROLEX, they think that guy/girl has money....even if that ISN'T the case. Not only is your watch valuable, so are you....if a young person is wearing one, then his parents are valuable. But, I'm cynical...can't do this job for a long time and not be. If your father does gift you one, just use your common sense. I know you'll want people to know you have one, every one who has a ROLEX is proud of them but its doubly typical for someone so young to be, whats the word...flashy. It's normal. Good luck and congrats should this happen...just be careful. Yer Pal, Cuda |

Here's what I would do: I would tell my dad to pick it out and surprise me with his choice. It may just be me, but I like gifts that you unwrap and not quite know what you are going to get. I think it makes it that much more special. If your like me, your dad knows you more than anyone else and he will make the perfect choice. Sorry for being all hokey.
