If I am doing an activity that I think might damage a mechanical watch (like running an old outboard motor), I now wear a Casio G-shock. I SCUBA dive with a Suunto D9tx. I wear a Rolex at all other times.

This thread had me falling down a rabbit-hole investigating Invicta

I tend to wear a white G-Shock that I bought in Bali whenever I'm doing anything 'risky' that could put my 'nice' watches in danger (ice skating, climbing, holidays). But it's yellowing from sun-tan and pool/beach water exposure now, and isn't becoming of well-to-do gentleman such as myself

I really like the look of the Invicta 9937OB.. that could happily sit on the wrist in any situation, with the advantage that if it got trashed, it's cheaper than my insurance excess to replace and significantly less hassle.

But I do have a drawer full of alternatives.. a really nice Copper Dial Oakley Judge that I've not even looked at in a year (but is a keeper), a G-Shock Giez that looked nice in the pics but didn't live up to it on the wrist, an Apple Watch Gen2 (soon to hit eBay as the novelty wore off quickly) and a few others I can't even remember

Not sure the good lady will accept a business case on me getting the 9937OB.. maybe if I clear out a few of the drawer queens

Like many others here, I don't really beat my watches but the one I will go to when I am doing any work around the house my GMT II. I take it off when I am washing the cars, mainly because I don't want to scratch the cars.

Oris TT1 williams - ceramic bezel + rubber strap = no worries

It wasn't "cheap" but it wouldn't crush me if something happened to it

I only own one watch, but I'm definitely not easy on it. I don't smash it around, but I'm not worried about scuffs, dings and scratches. Probably will be my only watch for a long time!

Agree 10000% with Padi on the "beater" description ... none of my watches look destroyed like a lot of watches here. My oldest watch is an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean and it is the only watch I trust for demanding activities such as taking it on vacation and use it while swimming in the pool. It's the watch I trust the most, not Rolex but my super Omega.

This is the one I wear if I'm concerned about bumps and bruises. It's a pretty durable hunk of titanium.

When I'm doing hard work, yard work or when I just want to dress down, I wear this ESQ, Catalyst by Movado. Nothing fancy or expensive about it just a good solid quartz watch.

no true beater but my 16600 SD or my polar SAS Exp II are the two that get worn for arduous tasks...
