If a AD is good to me then I’ll reward them by not turning down the offer in a call. You’re helping them hit their sales targets.

Don’t think you’re special, there’s always someone else they will call if you say no.

Reward? They are getting compensated for selling you their wares. Their reward is the profit from the sale.

You probably shouldn't. Enough kickbacks and dodgy practices going on already.

Suck it if you think the service is that good. Personally, I’d just let him keep the profit.

If you think it would ingratiate you with the AD and want something that might be hard to get in the future, then it's not unreasonable.

Thinking about it this is absolute insanity and goes some way to explaining the mad works where they make literally thousands of dollars on some transactions and you’re then offering to baby sit their kids, wash their car, pleasure their wives. Insanity.

If someone can take ownership of the kids and car, I’ll volunteer for the wife bit .

Earlier today I was trying to explain to my cousin (a forum member & watch enthusiast) why I've cooled on the Rolex brand. This thread probably captures it perfectly. Rolex is a fine luxury product. I simply don't have the time or inclination to chase down a watch or put myself on 10 waiting lists while bowing at the AD altar offering up some sad pastries or ice cream bars for the chance to spend my money. Good luck either way. The "call me when it gets here" approach has worked well for me.

As a marketing consultant, I can tell you the very best thing you can do is write a good review on google, facebook and yelp. You can't believe how helpful that is to a small, (or large), business.

I went into an AD today whom I bought a sub from a month ago. First thing the salesperson said was "Hey thanks for that great review!". It makes big difference. Also, if the salesperson isn't the owner, I always make a point to tell the owner what a good experience I had.

As others have said, your loyalty is a great thank you and nothing like a hand written card.

I am wondering what you guys do? If anything.
I’ve agreed to pay for his kid’s first car. I hope that’s enough for me to get a two two tone, black GMT at full retail. We’ll see.

A hand written thank you from the customer to the AD? Now that is some serious bizarro world stuff.

This is what I've been doing, but I can only do a few dozen more before it would have been cheaper to go grey.

Get him a gift certificate to a nice restaurant. The last thing sales guys want to do when they've got time off is spend it at dinner with a client who wants to talk about what he talks about all day, every day.

Really surprised at all the negativity about giving something to show appreciation to your AD. I have no problem with giving my AD something or anyone for that matter who gives me good service for whatever it may be. It shows you have some class. I hit the NY WIN 4 last week for a lousy $200.00 and gave the guy who sold me the ticket $20.00 for lunch. Giving a gift (whatever it is) isn't going to kill you.

Agree with this. A lot of people seem to have this mentality that it should be purely business. It's easy to forget people at ADs are still human and being polite, courteous and respectful goes a long way. If giving a gift is part of your style, then do it. Not saying it needs to be mandatory, or encouraged, but interacting like you would with a friend or other humans is not crazy at all.

My reward is a polite handshake and a sincere thank you with a smile. They treat me like a Rolex customer and I treat them as my favorite AD.. It is a matter of building a honest relationship.

If you build a good relationship with them and they help you out (1, by selling to us or 2, even holding the watch for us) then I don't see the issue?

I am hardly talking spending upwards of £100.. sort them out with a bottle of something that lets them know you appreciate it.

I can see both arguments also though.

A couple of bottles of wine at Christmas as a token of my appreciation for the service they give. I don’t see it as being any different to me giving a Christmas tip to my postman or the bin-men.

The service I get is exceptional and goes above and beyond what I would expect. Even the security guard greets me by name when I visit. I see no harm in a small gesture of thanks.

I don’t do this to receive preferential treatment in the future, I do it simply to say thanks.

Of course, the big reward is that I simply wouldn’t buy a Rolex, Tudor, or Parmigiani (the three brands they stock) from anywhere else, even if I could get a significant discount elsewhere. I also buy all of my wife’s jewellery from them.

Gave my AD manager a Bentley Arnage and he joyfully announced that I shall
receive my new reference in 8 years instead of 12,,,,
I was so very happy with this outcome ,,,
