Sorry to hear today wasn’t as expected. Unfortunately I’ve never been able to get in and out from a car dealer.
Consider taking a mulligan and just pick up your father another day and take a nice drive and dinner with him. I bet the day will be less stressful. Enjoy that beautiful car.

Congrats on picking her up and bummer it was stress on your pops. Buying a new car is generally a crap experience no matter who it's from, sadly. I wish car dealers were as stress-free as buying a new watch.

Hopefully you get more time with your dad. Does he like your car? Does he enjoy riding in it? What's his take?

I’m sorry that the delivery of your $150,000 car didn’t go as advertised. Definitely a downer.

It's a shame about the screw ups but focus on the positive, the time with your dad and picking up an awesome machine - that's what matters.

Sorry to hear about your dad. I lost mine almost 10 years ago. He was my best friend and I think of him every day. Cherish those moments brother!

You know Seth, when my Dad was alive (greatest man ever) I would imagine what I’d be like picking him up in my new ride, because in my mind I was still a child trying to impress my Dad on how much I’ve grown up. That mindset doesn’t have any barriers against age. We are programmed for life to make our mothers and fathers happy. And regardless how well or poorly our plans may go to bring that smile to their faces, in reality they are just happy as hell to be near us as their children.

I really hate to hear this Seth. Some dealers and brands run into this problem when they have way to many models available and they pump many 150k cars out the doors. So, for them, I get the feeling they are doing you a favor of selling you a car. That is their mindset. They think, "big deal. another 150k car out the door". Knowing your situation, that your father is gravely ill and not having the car ready after it being in their possession for more than a week is totally unacceptable. What a way to squash your day.

Damn, an experience like this should be way better than you envision, not the other way around. It does sound like a day when the weather is good, you can pick your dad up for lunch with the targa open, and go for a nice cruise will work out much better than hoping the dealer holds up his end of the bargain.

Sorry to hear it didn’t go as expected, but at least you’ve got it now and can pop on down to your dads whenever you’d like in it and take him for a ride. Enjoy!

You would think that a high-end dealership would have their act together. Too bad they didn’t. Now that that’s behind you, forget about it and enjoy your time with your father and the new car. YOU did all the right things.

Wait till you see the smile on your fathers face when you pick him up for a ride on the next beautiful sunny day and the two of you have a blast together.

Enjoy the new ride and good luck with the club.

High expectations are usually hard to meet. Buying a car (most of the time) sucks. The good news is that you spent some time with your dad. Like mentioned earlier, once it gets nice enough, open that top and take him for a ride. Enjoy the car.

I’m late here as usual- sorry to hear the delivery wasn’t ideal but so glad for you that you can share that type of thing with your Dad! My Dad finds spending money on high end cars is absolutely ridiculous! He rolls his eyes and makes comments when I show up in a new car. Watches is even worse! He thinks thats even more stupid, be glad you can enjoy it with him rather than practically hiding it like i do.

The navy and the black go together very well.

I like that you changed the Targa pillar to black. Looks much better than the standard silver.

That blue. Lovely. Really pops with the ceramic brakes that would floor most people when they see the price on the options list. Beautiful man. Just beautiful.

thanks guys. i agonized between this and silver. the silver on black looks amazing. but that looks better with the steel (red) brakes, and I really wanted ceramic. i do think this came out to be perfect.

i am loving this car.

best analogy, with the AMG, I can think of is fighting. The AMG was Mike Tyson. A total animal. This 911 is like a Kung Fu master. Both amazing and effective and awesome. but right now this one just suits me perfectly.

and boy did i not realize how much i missed driving stick. it was a ton of fun this weekend.

what i did not expect, as it was not very regular in any other car, is how many people try to race me in this thing. it is shocking.

Awesome! If I recall this is also your first 911? Once you got in did it just feel "right?" That's the feeling I had the first time I ever drove one.

yes, first one.

and YES, it felt right. I understand why people say what they say. It truly is that good of a machine. it also feels nearly bullet proof.

Yup, beautiful car. Love the retro Targa look and metallic blue paint. I like that in this day and age with so many heavy vehicles, some of whom have giant engines, a 911 feels and is much lighter and doesn't need a 500 hp V8 turbo or supercharged engine to go fast. I am sure you will love it.

you know, that is a great comment.

it really does feel lighter and just moves with finesse. i have really never driven anything like it.

agree with the retro styling too. always loved the targa looks. and this one really does kill it.

SETH! That’s a gorgeous build. You knocked it out of the park with that color and complementing wheels. Those PCCBs pop and it just looks all out sexy. Glad you’re enjoying it! And I agree, manuals are the best.
